hello world! this is the first dev update for wavewright. thank you from the bottom of my heart for being interested in this experimental music project c:

i wanted to share the general timeline for the highest priorities for the project. currently, i'm putting all my efforts into getting the build to the best state that it can be for a public demo which i hope to release on steam by the end of the month! so far, i've been showing wavewright and sending builds to close friends, and there's been lots of helpful feedback. the hope is that a public demo can attract a larger community that can provide even more helpful ideas and suggestions! i'm also simply just excited and can't wait to see what people are able to come up with ☺️

the scope for the demo will be for it to be horizontally complete, but much more pared down vertically. by this, i mean that the software will be as complete as possible with respect to the UI/UX and quality of life features that aren't specific to modules and their content. however, the collection of modules to choose from in the demo will be a small subset of the full version. hopefully the subset that i curate will be a good enough assortment to be able to build interesting things while leaving the desire for more 😉

i've also slowly been trying to publicize the project a bit more: i've posted occasionally on reddit with positive feedback, and i'm planning to make some more short-form content on youtube and the like. i'm also thinking about whether to reach out to content creators that are into experimental music systems once the demo is out.

after the public demo, i expect to go through a period of building a small community and working with their feedback, and i hope to release the full version of wavewright within a few months, and definitely sometime in 2026. my development philosophy is that once released, i will continue to work on improvements and content updates for free and at no additional cost. i want wavewright to be an affordable tool for those who want to get into modular music systems but have been put off by its complexity or financial cost.

i'll continue to post occasional updates to this community hub, but i also created a discord server[discord.gg] for people to discuss techniques, ask questions, and share their creations. feel free to join!
