Shape The Lore Part 2: Naming The Megacorps

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to this week's update, where we're going to reveal the name of our Exomoon, as chosen by you, and also introduce the Megacorps which have set the events of EverRail in motion. We also have some patch notes for an update to the demo!

Let's get into it shall we?

Introducing Inara!

Last week, we asked on our Discord[discord.gg] for people to suggest names for the Exomoon, then we picked our favourites from the suggestions, and put up a poll to allow the community to pick the final name. Our finalists were:

Inara
New Poyais
Prosperity
Dantia

The community voted, and with 50% of the vote, our overwhelming winner is Inara, which will be the name of our Exomoon going forward! Thanks to Discord[discord.gg] member Dawnwhisper who came up with the suggestion!

The Megacorporations.

The world of EverRail has been intrinsically shaped by the three Megacorporations who purchased the naming rights for Inara. We know a bit about the three corporations, but we don't know their names. Over the next few days, we'll be asking for you to all suggest names for them in our Discord, and we'll be collecting them on Monday, choosing our favourites for each, and then putting up a poll to let you decide on what the name for each corporation should be!

Megacorp 1:

It began in 1978 as a modest stationery manufacturer in Brazil. Paper. Ink. Filing systems. Tools for organization in a rapidly modernizing world.

Precision, reliability, and relentless expansion defined its early decades. What started as office supplies evolved into logistics. Logistics became manufacturing. Manufacturing became energy, infrastructure, defense, biotechnology, aerospace.

Today, it is the largest and most powerful megacorporation on Earth. Its subsidiaries operate across nearly every industry imaginable and while It produces consumer staples like baby formula and medical equipment, it also builds orbital launch systems, autonomous weapons platforms, and thermonuclear weapon systems.

Its branding emphasizes stability, family, and progress. Its contracts shape governments. Its research divisions quietly define the future.

Megacorp 2:

Founded in West Germany in 1967, this corporation began as a regional supermarket chain built on a simple promise: value above all else.

Efficiency was its religion. Logistics became its weapon. Margins became its art form.

Through disciplined expansion, aggressive supplier negotiations, and relentless cost optimization, the company transformed from neighbourhood grocer to continental retail giant. Retail became distribution. Distribution became global supply chains. Supply chains became manufacturing, shipping, finance, and data analytics.

Today, it stands as one of the largest commercial entities on Earth.

Publicly, it champions affordability and accessibility. Internally, it is famous for operating with some of the highest profit margins in the industry, a testament to its mastery of scale, automation, and negotiation.

Unlike others, its empire is rooted firmly in commerce. It doesn’t brandish weapons contracts or aerospace divisions as symbols of prestige. It sells. It distributes. It moves product.

Which is why its decision to join the coalition tasked with colonizing the Exomoon surprised many.

The official statement cited “long-term commercial opportunity and sustainable expansion of human markets.”

Analysts suspect there is more to it than that.

Megacorp 3:

The smallest of the three, but perhaps the most technically indispensable.

Founded in the United Kingdom as a manufacturer of high-end automobiles, the company built its reputation on precision engineering and exclusivity. Its vehicles were never designed for the masses, they were crafted for heads of state, industrial dynasties, and the ultra-wealthy. Ownership was status.

Following a severe economic collapse in the UK, the corporation relocated its headquarters to Japan, where it restructured, consolidated, and quietly expanded its engineering divisions. What began as luxury automotive manufacturing evolved into something broader: private aviation interiors, high-speed rail cabins, executive maritime transport.

Over time, its name became synonymous not merely with transport, but with luxurious travel.

Unlike the other two megacorporations, it lacks vast retail networks or global defense contracts. Its scale is smaller. Its footprint more selective. Its margins depend on innovation rather than dominance.

Which is precisely why it matters.

The Exomoon colonization project would not be viable without the company’s most recent breakthrough: a revolutionary engine system capable of operating efficiently in extreme conditions while delivering immense sustained power output. This technology now drives the massive trains designed to traverse the Exomoon’s hostile surface.

The demo has been updated, and we wanted to let you know about the latest changes:

Changes and Improvements:

Disabled leftover debug controls
Re-added footer bar to crafting UI
White square showing if quest target arrow is off screen now hidden
Train stands on tracks better
Improved player list layout in multiplayer session management
Removed Rations locker in SpawnRoom/MessHall and replaced with normal loot lockers
Restyled Toolbelt UI

Bugfixes:

Fixed client cannot play multiple sessions without closing game entirely
Fixed replication of bunkbeds and covers and boxes etc. inside dungeon rooms. Dungeons should now be layout synced fully to client
Fixed replication of variant spawn rooms of dungeons
Fixed Server sees all interaction prompts of client on own HUD
Fixed Client cannot write on sign in the train
Fixed console still interactable after already opening door in tutorial
Fixed Reverse camera is not functional for client
Fixed issue where aiming and strafing could break animation

Unplayable

Right after the first Minute it shows that the Game is unplayable right now. The mouse stops at the screen corners and its impossible to keep turning. This way almost all enemies are impossible to deal with. As long you cant fully turn around etc its impossible to play....

Shape The Lore!

Hello Conductors!

Today we’re really happy to announce the start of our new community driven event, “Shape The Lore”! We’re going to be running a series of polls on our Discord[discord.com], where you will be able to suggest and vote on various aspects of the world of EverRail!

To start with, we want to give you a little background on why people are even on the moon in the first place, and what’s gone wrong. Then we’re going to be asking you to come up with suggestions of what to name the exomoon the game is set on, then you’ll vote from a list of finalists we choose.

An Introduction to the lore of EverRail:

EverRail is set on a hostile, largely unexplored Super-Earth[en.wikipedia.org] sized exomoon orbiting a gas giant in the Kepler-1625 system. The exomoon is many times larger than Earth, with crushing gravity and extreme environments.

Earth itself has fallen on hard times as government control has loosened, and the power of corporations has grown. The corporations now run the world, and they run it with an iron fist. Unemployment is rampant, with huge swathes of the populace never having been able to work a day in their life, subsisting entirely off meagre benefits. Day to day life, for the majority of people, is about survival. Thus, when the offer to take part in the colonisation of a new planet came up, there was no shortage of volunteers.

The exomoon was purchased for colonization by a consortium of three megacorporations, each presenting a unified public goal, but each hiding a secret agenda of its own. The smallest of these corporations has provided a revolutionary train engine, a technological marvel that underpins the entire colonial effort and may be more important than anyone realizes.

Long-distance flight is impractical, so civilization depends on planet-spanning rail networks. Trains are not just transport, but lifelines: they generate power while moving and slowly drain their batteries when stationary, forcing constant motion and difficult decisions.

Humanity’s arrival has not gone as planned.

For nearly 50 years, autonomous robots pre-seeded the planet, constructing habitats, rails, power systems, and logistics hubs in preparation for the colonists’ arrival. But something went wrong. The AI rebelled, and never completed the terraforming of the planet. Once the colony ship arrived, they unloaded the colonists, still frozen in cryostasis, and they transported them across the planet, to the various facilities they had been due to run. The colonists were kept frozen, locked in place, while the robots guard their sleeping forms, for an unknown purpose.

Players begin in an icy wasteland biome, with other, stranger biomes waiting beyond the rails. Survival depends on exo-suits that protect colonists from the planet’s gravity and brutal climate, and on the train that carries them forward into the unknown.

The upcoming votes and polls will determine the true history of the world before the game begins. Every choice defines the forces shaping EverRail’s present, and future. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be asking you to name the exomoon, the megacorporations, the official purpose of the colony, the secret goal of each of the corporations and the reason the AI went wrong, fleshing out the who, what, when and why of the world of EverRail.

EverRail Nextfest Demo Is Now Live!

Hello Conductors!

As of this moment, right now, our Early Alpha demo for Steam Nextfest is live! You can play the game in both single and co-op, with support for up to 4 players. The demo is time limited to 2 hours, but you can replay as many times as you want! This is a super early look at EverRail, and we want your feedback to shape the game with you.

What can you expect in the demo? Well, we have this handy graphic which not only shows what you can do in the demo, but also what we want to deliver when we enter into Early Access later this year! Below that we’ll go into a little more detail about the demo!

Key Features:

EverRail features unique Tricore Gameplay: on rails, in the air and on foot!

Train-Based Survival:

Our train is a moving survival system. Energy production, battery charge, heat, and life support are all tied to motion and upgrades.

Every decision you make affects whether the train keeps running or slowly turns into a frozen coffin.

Managing power, speed, and systems is as critical as fighting enemies, and stopping at the wrong time can mean death.

Glider Scouting and Resource Gathering:

Use gliders to gain a tactical overview of the world. Scout routes ahead of the train and mark points of interest.

Harvest resources and rare isotopes from hazardous clouds while managing altitude, tether range, and remaining power to make it back alive.

On-Foot Expeditions:

Leave the train behind and enter dangerous locations on foot. Explore factories, ruins, and dungeons filled with enemies, traps, and environmental hazards.

Time is always against you as your batteries drain, forcing you to balance combat, looting, and exploration before you are cut off from power.
Our Permadeath Successor System means that rescuing other passengers provides you with more lives, and when you die, you take over another passenger. When all the passengers are dead, it’s game over.

Craft. Build. Upgrade.

Craft gear, weapons, tools, and modules, upgrade train systems, and redesign the interior of your wagons to support longer journeys.

Every upgrade changes how you survive, fight, and explore, turning the train into a fully customizable mobile base.

Dynamic Winter Wasteland:

Travel through an infinite procedurally generated world shaped by ice and decay. No journey is the same. Weather, terrain, enemies, and resource distribution constantly shift, forcing adaptation and planning.

As long as passengers remain on board, you can continue pushing deeper into the frozen wasteland.

Multiplayer - Co-Op:

EverRail is built for shared survival with seamless drop in and drop out co-op for up to four players. All players share one train, one energy system, and one set of resources, while taking on different roles like driving, glider scouting, crafting, repairs, and passenger management.

On expeditions, teamwork is essential to survive combat, secure loot, and make it back before the cold and the draining battery end the run.

only 2 hours? There is no timer actually so nm

Why not remove the time limit? and just leave the demo how it is without any updates? Some people play for like 30mins and they recommend it to there friends so only having 2 hours basically ruins the idea of playing with friends unless you're the type of people to start together right away....

Doesn't seem really suited to Singleplayer

Since you have to drive as well as doing any crafting etc its not entirelly singleplayer freindly, will be fine with co-op but unless there is some spot you can 'shelter' so you can take care of your train you are constantly going to be runnign around doing everyuthing yourself. I just can't see it working for the SP point of view. I might as well just stick to Zompiecer for example....

Demo Feedback

I liked the idea, but it is too early to tell if it's gonna be good or not. I don't even think this was ready for a demo... Missing animations. I clipped through a wall and got stuck in an empty building. Combat feels clumsy. A lot seems like a placeholder, too much empty space. In any case, I don't hate it, will try to remember to come back to this and check it out....
