Early Access launch has exceeded my expectations tenfold already.

It's funny - I pushed you guys so hard to report bugs in the Discord[discord.gg] that I got an overwhelming amount of them.

You guys keep finding things I would never have found myself in a million years. As of 0.5.16, it looks like 95% of bugs have been squashed. This means I can devote a lot more time to future context and QoL additions now.

As you can see in-game, there's about 12 Guardians, 16 Mods, 4 Parts and 3 Modes that aren't released yet.

Your Discord[discord.gg] suggestion posts are the reason that ALL of those are now planned out. I've also tweaked lots of stuff based on what you guys are telling me. Well actually not the last Mode but hey, maybe that's something you could help me out with.

It's official - the next update introduces Genome Guardian 2's entire story component.

It'll be delivered in a number of different ways and you'll be able to build a record of story events / what characters have said that you can refer back to. No more barely visible text in the middle of a wave that you can never find again (well, a couple are still mid-wave but not that intrusive and they make sense).

It's also done in a way that, even if you already have like 100h in the game, starting the story now will feel natural.

Oh, and of course there will be new Guardians, Mods and other stuff in it too. It's coming roughly late April (since I'm moving and stuff).

You know those sites, like Patreon, or that Buy Me A Coffee one? That's what reviews are to a game.

It sounds like you guys have been totally absorbed by the game - tell the world, because more reviews means more players see it, and the more players see it, the more I can add to it. 30 paragraphs or 1 letter - they all directly influence Genome Guardian 2's success.

After this patch, I'll be focusing on preparing THE STORY UPDATE (0.6.0) (this time for real) which will likely drop late April.

I'll be moving to a new house across the country so I won't be able to update anything until I'm fully settled at the new place (so I reaaally hope this update doesn't introduce any bugs...). This'll likely also mean I can't respond to Steam Discussion posts for a while.

Lots of the work for it is already done though, and a whole lot of stuff is gonna be coming your way when 0.6.0 hits.

• "Mole" Guardian: alright, I know, it's a lot more interesting of a concept than it is to actually use, but, maybe it'll be a bit more interesting if that "puzzle" wasn't as easy to solve. It does still come with Heat Gain -100% though which is a HUGE ADVANTAGE. Maybe it'll change one day but, for now:

  • Damage +50% → +30%

  • Knockback +50% → +30%

  • Firerate +50% → +30%

• "Stabilizer" Mod: Takes 3s → 2s to reach maximum Accuracy increase (buff).

• "Lance" Mod: Now charges 50% further (buff). This should make it a decent movement option now too, even if you're not trying to stab Microbes.

• "Siren" Mod: Firerate +100% & Velocity +100% & Accuracy -50% for 1s → 2s when hit (buff).

• Chip Prices: a whole bunch changed (most increased). I think it's justified considering you only buy at most 3 during a dive, so even if everything increased by 10 across the board (which it didn't!!!) that'd just be 30 more Biomass needed for the whole dive.

• "Warp" Guardian: snazzy new icon.

• Powerpolyps: a faint sound now plays when one appears.

• Deposits: Updated spawn sound.

• Unlock Conditions:

  • "Wings" Mod: stolen by an unreleased Guardian - changed to "have at least 100 Speed during a dive".

  • "Moon" Mod: stolen by an unreleased Mod - changed to "eliminate 3000 Microbes with Hitscan weapons."

• Weapon Hover Stats: Burn symbol now fades out if value is 0 ("x").

• "Tractor" Barrel: Hitscan shots won't move forward now (they'll still rotate to face aim direction).

• "Ammunition" Core: the unused Cooling Rate stat now says "Cooling Rate" (crossed out) instead of "x".

• "Snare" Guardian:

  • Explosions, Areas & Flaks will now trigger when hitting Deposits.

  • Projectiles stuck to Microbes now won't grow when the Microbe inflates.

• "Maw" Guardian: Will now eat Deposits.

• Unlock Conditions:

  • "Crossbow" Hull: text updated to match trigger.

  • "Psion" Hull: trigger updated to match text.

  • "Biofuel" Core: fixed unlock condition trigger.

• "Director" Mod: now affects BESTS in RECORDS menu properly (won't fix bests retroactively).

• "Metronome" Mod: Flak & Split pellet Damage now calculated correctly when this Mod is equipped.

• Weapon AGTT "Bubble Blaster": would sometimes not show Gene-adding warnings in SHOP.

• DATABASE Chip Tab Filter Buttons: The Core one now properly updates to match your current Core.

• Disabled Core-Related Stat Text: Now the crossed-out text and accompanying symbols have the same opacity (looks much nicer).

• "Symbols Only" Keyword Setting: Fixed some keywords displaying full text when they shouldn't be. (there will still be cases of this but many are intentional)

• Hitscan: Keyword now uses proper colour & symbol.

• Fixed some more cases of tooltips being stuck (ex. when changing tab via Q/E).

• Finally fixed that annoying bug where you hover a DNA over a DNA slot to discover a new weapon, but it doesn't say "DISCOVER!" (if you drag it from the top downward).

• A handful of translation improvements.
