Black screen on first run

I've not got a slow machine, but after 20 seconds of staring at black after the epilepsy warning made me wonder if the previously undetected neurological disease had in fact struck me already. Is it possible to just do something so first time unpacking of graphics and other housekeeping improves the OOB experience? I know it's only a demo, but the same "black screen" sits between the menu and the game starting actually proper of the game as well, and once again at the end, that same delay to get back to ...
