Right from the main menu, the game’s mobile origins are immediately noticeable. The first clue is a plus sign that opens a completely empty shop, while the second is the use of dollar price tags on cars. These details are mostly harmless leftovers, but the same can’t be said for the controls. Instead of simply mapping left and right steering to keyboard buttons, you are forced to steer with the mouse by clicking and holding the left mouse button, which feels awkward on a PC.

The basic objective is to dodge obstacles and collect coins. There are nine stages in total, but only three are available at the start, while the rest must be unlocked by spending coins. Aside from different backgrounds and visual templates for obstacles and cars, every stage plays exactly the same.

Each track can be played in three modes that are mostly identical with only small differences. In Classic mode you drive until your first crash. Survival mode adds fuel cans that you must collect to keep going. Escape mode, however, tasks you with avoiding oil spills while a police car chases you. The first two modes work well enough, but Escape quickly becomes frustrating because oil spills appear without any warning, making it nearly impossible to react in time. There is also a multiplayer mode, but it appears to be completely empty.

The core gameplay is functional, but the mobile design philosophy of short, quick sessions doesn’t translate well to home computers. Obstacles spawn randomly without considering whether the player actually has time to avoid them. For example, you might pick up a boost power-up only to be launched straight into the next obstacle because steering responsiveness is too slow to compensate.

Other cars appear without any warning, forcing you to constantly stay alert, while static obstacles are at least marked with an exclamation point. In addition to the boost, you can collect a temporary shield that grants brief invincibility, or a magnet that pulls nearby coins toward your car. How far you get in each run often comes down to luck due to the random obstacle placement, and even a good run rewards you with only a small number of coins.

This inevitably leads to grinding. New tracks are extremely expensive, and the same applies to cars. Although you can upgrade your starting vehicle, saving up for a new car is usually the better option since each upgrade becomes progressively more expensive. In practice, the only upgrade truly worth buying is handling, as a single purchase makes a noticeable difference. Increasing speed or acceleration can actually make the game harder, while the fuel upgrade only matters in one mode.

Unfortunately, while the first five cars can be purchased with coins, the remaining five require gems. This feels like another leftover from the game’s mobile roots, as there is no clear way to obtain gems, at least in the available stages. In the end, there are simply too many mobile-style mechanics left intact, and they come at a fairly steep cost for a game like this.
