Full disclosure: I have played all the way through the pre-release version through supporting R3dspike on Patreon, which is why I feel compelled to leave an early review despite only having 73 minutes in the game on Steam. I have played through multiple times on the non-Steam release and unlocked all the content there but enjoyed it enough that I decided to buy it again on Steam.

Alright, so, what kind of game is Nakara? Think first person Pac-man in one of the newer Doom engines (Doom as in classic Doom, not DOOM 2016), in which you collect rings, pacify horny monstergirls, and defeat the ultimate baddie (or get defeated, I'm not judging)! Along the way, you find various powerups that can enhance your abilities, such as lowering the amount of time to recharge your sword, decrease how many rings you need to "pull in" to throw them at enemies, or even temporarily slow time when taking damage.

As for the levels, there are multiple biomes each with their own unique gimmicks that you'll have to learn to succeed. Each biome generally has two different types of enemies that can spawn (though not both in a given playthrough), which encourages you to play multiple times so you can unlock all of the gallery content.

Now, if you're looking at this game and you've seen the gameplay and the screenshots and are still interested, I have to assume you're not here solely for the gamepley... Well, have I got great news for you! The pixel art animations are extremely fluid and varied, and each dungeon typically has two enemy types, some of which have multiple positions for their defeat animations (by which I mean, when *you* get defeated). Furthermore, you don't have to lose to unlock their animations... You actually need to clear their respective dungeon to unlock them in the gallery! This gives an incentive to actually try to win, rather than the unfortunate design choice in other games to "lose repeatedly to unlock all the content". I'm really happy the dev went with this option, since you get a reward for playing well, but the "punishment" for playing poorly doesn't feel so bad.

Finally, as for the future of the game, R3dspike (the developer) has been posting regular updates on their Patreon page and they've made steady progress up to and including the full Steam release, so I am hopeful to see more biomes and enemy types added in the future! That said, there is already quite a bit of polish on the game already, so if you are into monstergirl femdom pixelart stuff or just want to try a spicy 3D Pac-man type game, definitely give Nakara a try! The demo is free, and the full game is awesome!

Nakara is what you get when you cross Pac-Man with roguelike elements running on the Doom engine sprinkled with monster girls on the top. Pretty fun game, each area has some kind of gimmick to it making them feel distinct enough to not get boring.

The visuals are absolutely stunning, the pixel art, the animations all have a lot of love put into them. The dev even composed the music of the game by themselves!
