Blood high is a flawed game. A few of the mechanics could have done with more thought and the level design could absolutely use some work. I found the parry mechanic frustrating as you lack control over where your head goes when you throw it causing it to consistently hit enemies that are parrying that you might not have even seen cause you attempted to throw your head at an enemy in another direction that isnt parrying. Specifically the last section feels weird cause when some of the control that you have in the air is lost when blood high causing you to just launch straight into a bottomless pit causing you to need to haul ass to get back to where you were beforehand.

Now I know reading this you might be wondering why this review is positive and the reason is simple. I think the good in this game massively outweighs the bad the movement feels amazing. The guns (especially the shotgun mmmmm) feel amazing. The healing mechanics engaged me a lot. All of the problems I had with the game I could easily list two positives for each one. My critiques come from a place of love I truly want to see this game become a game I can see myself consistently coming back to even after I've finished it.

Blood High is exactly the kind of weird little indie game I love finding on Steam.

It is short, silly, fast, and full of personality. The cute pixel-style visuals instantly grabbed me, but the real hook is the ridiculous vampire combat where your blood is ammo and your head is part of the action. It sounds stupid. It is stupid. That is why it works.

Do not expect a massive game with endless content. This is a quick arcade-style boomer shooter built for short bursts of fun.

For the price, I had a blast. If you like weird indie shooters with charm, give this one a go.

The Vampire is very cute and the game is very charming. This game being 6 bucks is a steal
EDIT: Now that I have beaten the game I have just a couple new notes. I wish there was more music, per area, the second area's music got irritating after a while. Otherwise still a fun game!
