Naked native man fights dinosaurs and stops an alien invasion

I have never played Turok prior and I didn't really know it that well, but I must say that for it's time (and thinking about when this game came out in 1998) it's really cool to see this kind of game exists and technically made, I respect the first Turok for this.

This version of the game plays well on modern systems and I think it does seems visually genuine, which might not look great for the eye but atleast true to it's roots. Gameplay is somewhat simple: shoot everything up on the levels and find it's secrets, which is somewhat fun if you are into it. The soundtrack overall pretty okay too.

But in my opinion this game is pretty rough to play. I think I have enough patience and interested to dig deep in a game if I get interested in it, but the game can get a bit annoying to play. For example, the random stone plates which sometimes opens up something or doesn't adds to the mystery but it gets annoying when you have constantly no idea what you open. Then, finding the keys can get annoying too... sure I could watch a walkthrough to know where are the keys, but playing it normally it can get annoying when you keep going around a decently big enough level to find what you looking for. Also the game is somewhat obscure based on the setting and/or the plot. Probably I should have play this game more to figure this out, but my point is that there is not much narrative motivation to keep going in the levels, as the game barely explains anything.

Turok is a retro, exploration gaming experience, even though this release is for the modern system. It can be enjoy and I believe it's an okay game, but it's definietly not for everyone. I believe if you are interested in old school FPS then you can give it a try with Turok when it's on sale, but don't expect too much from it.

timeless classic that holds up to this day, just as fun as it was back then
