Mirror Mode & Difficulty Stacking

Does anyone know if the difficulty related achievements stack? (beating the game on advanced unlocks the others' achievements as well) Also, does anyone know how to unlock mirror mode, is it for beating the game on the hardest difficulty?! Thanks in advance, love the game...just completed my first Novice 100% run.

The game freezes on a black screen when entering most rooms

I've encountered a problem where the game freezes when moving through most rooms. The music continues to play, but I can't do anything except close it through "Task Manager". I've tried limiting the frame rate and running it in a window. Compatibility mode for previous versions of Windows also doesn't work. Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a solution?...

Its predecessor was made by the devil... and someone expanded the nightmare.
I tell you right now, IT IS A DIFFICULT GAME.
Look for info about it's original counterpart and steel your resolve...
Because this IS a game for the brave.

Jokes aside, it has been improved immensely, with the music, it's graphics, controls and tons of content.

I do miss the Toccata and Fugue in D minor though...

After being trapped in MacOS 32-bit limbo for an eternity, I can finally play this anywhere. Great platforming that really has its own unique style. Difficult but never feels cheap. Unlike the classic games, this one has meta-progression in that after you earn items you keep them through the rest of your playthrough. Looking forward to trying this out on Steam Deck as well.

Total bliss, infuriating perfection. I adore this game, even through its most frustrating moments. This is everything I ever wanted from a Dark Castle game. Made with love by a fellow fan of the franchise and published by its original co-creator. Everything endearing about the originals has been retained, and everything new, which is quite a lot, adheres perfectly to the aesthetic and to the spirit of the gameplay. Dark Castle's platonic ideal.

Downward Jump

Anybody know how to do a downward jump? I've tried holding down and pressing jump. Didn't work. I tried Crouching and pressing jump. Didn't work. I tried crouching, holding down, and pressing jump. Still didn't work. Maybe I'm being too literal?

Remastered graphics & audio, what about remastered CONTROLS???

Look, I have very fond memories of playing this on my aunt and uncle's old Mac. I played it dozens of times over several years. But that's because there wasn't very much better on that machine (Taskmaker--please, please, please come back). In hindsight, the game stunk. I played it more out of stubbornness to beat "an area," which I don't think I ever did. The game had a ton of things going for it, the art, the music, innovation (at the time I don't think there was very much like it), the hilarious dea...
