I can't edit the xml file on civcity rome

i place my houses and everything else and all works fine but as soon as my towns people get in to their homes they never leave to work so i just have loads of residents in their homes and nothing being produces. anyone know why? and how i can fix this?

I bought this game a few months back when it was on sale, I think. I played it as a kid and thought I'd have fun with it now. I can't get past the campaign mission that wants you to grow olive and keep the town from burning. But the fire towers don't show the range they can cover, nor do the buildings themselves tell me their fire risk. I thought maybe at first it was an issue with not enough wells. The workers just will not get water from the wells, which stops the houses from improving as well, I thin...

Hi! Just ran into a game-breaking bug: my tunic weavers now refuse to work. when creating a new tunic shop, they'll go and get a new spool of linen, drop it off, the go home immediately and won't leave (ever): their meat and water don't go down and seeing as no-one has made any tunics, whel the whole settlement is stauck at medium hut stage. I am reinstalling the game (worked fine until Massalia mission 2), but if that doesn't work, has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it?...
