With recent bugfix im getting locked after first conversation with Caio at beginning of the game. Restart changes nothing

There is no indication of save points and when I left and returned a few hours later into the game, I clicked continue only to find all my story progress gone. my bird book was the only thing up to date. I had enjoyed the game so far, but unfortunatly I do not wish to keep replaying the whole story if I have to jump off due to irl circumstances....
