Gonna start off with saying this is one of those sorta games which makes me wish there was a neutral recommend option. To put it simply it's one of those games where you don't need a review. Just look at it and you'll know it's the sorta of game you'd enjoy or not.

So why the thumbs up? While the plot isn't ground breaking by any means I quite enjoyed the quurkyness of the characters (I particularly liked Ivrus a lot). Also IFI had the decency of selling the game at a more budgety price too.

Honestly if you miss the anything goes era of the Wii and DS/PSP this might be worth a look though with a astrix

Fun so far, the main focus here is the characters which are written to be funny and entertaining. Not a serious game so it's good to play when you want to relax and just enjoy the character interactions.

That doesn't mean that gameplay is bad, even though it's a simple turn based game the dungeon exploration is fun even though you don't run around the dungeon you have to use a roulette wheel to decide how many spaces you can move but it's not too bad and even though you have an "energy limit" it's pretty easy to restore and you only need to stay within the limit if you want the bonus.

The game’s premise sticks fairly close to a classic fantasy setup. It takes place in a world where people are afraid to leave their cities because monsters roam everywhere. To stay connected and send items or information, they rely on a delivery service, and you step into the role of one of its members, choosing either a male or female character.

The story is presented through the usual text boxes, with the option to use either Japanese or English voice acting. Because there’s a constant stream of dialogue, I really appreciated the option to display everything at once without waiting, or even skip it entirely, much like in visual novels. Battles can also be sped up, which is a quality of life feature that makes a noticeable difference over time.

At its core, the gameplay follows a familiar turn based RPG structure. You and your enemies take turns acting based on speed. When it’s a character’s turn, they can perform a basic attack, use a special skill, or defend to boost their defense for that round. Skills consume SP, which regenerates gradually each turn, so there’s a steady rhythm to managing your abilities.

Combat has a bit more depth through tiers, attributes, and elemental affinities, meaning certain attacks are more effective against specific enemies. Each enemy also gets an entry in a monster encyclopedia once you defeat it, which is a nice touch. It gives you a quick overview of their threat level, weaknesses, abilities, and possible rewards.

One interesting twist is that your character doesn’t fight directly. Instead, you act as a leader, issuing commands to your party. You’ll have a mix of characters like a warrior, a battle mage, and a healer, each with their own skills and personality. That personality actually matters, since emotional states can affect how they respond to your orders. Sometimes they might ignore you completely, which can be frustrating, or use a skill they prefer. On the flip side, they also have powerful unique abilities that trigger under certain hidden conditions, which adds a bit of unpredictability. Although stubborn characters might lead to frustration, the mechanic is fair.

There’s no traditional exploration here. Instead, you take on delivery jobs from the guild. Each task includes a short description, a reward, and often a bonus if you complete it quickly. The guild itself is fairly simple, mostly letting you manage your party and inventory. You’ll unlock more characters as you progress, but you can only bring three at a time.

Inventory management plays a bigger role than I expected. Your bag holds both delivery items and combat items like potions, and space is limited. Items stack, but they come in different sizes, so larger deliveries can force you to leave useful supplies behind. If you find new items during a run, you may have to make tough choices about what to keep and what to discard.

Once you accept a delivery, you head out to a map where you choose your destination. Locations unlock gradually, so you can’t freely explore everything right away. Each mission is structured as a series of nodes connected by paths, similar to a roguelite map. Nodes can represent battles, treasure, shops, random events, or stat boosts.

Movement across the map is determined by a random spin of a wheel. For example, if it lands on three, you can move three nodes in any direction, including backtracking. There are branching paths, and while the direct route is usually clear, taking detours often leads to better rewards. Some nodes are tied to the story and will immediately stop you in your path to trigger the event.

What I liked is that fight nodes are not in majority, and make a fine mix among all the other possible nodes. With a bit of luck, you can avoid combat for long stretches unless it’s required. When you do fight, you earn experience and items, which go straight into your bag. The main threat comes from a special roaming monster that actively chases you. If it catches you, you’re forced into a battle. Winning gives great rewards and even extends your delivery time, while losing reduces it.

Deliveries can span multiple maps, so reaching one goal doesn’t always mean you’re finished. Once you complete the main objective, the time pressure is lifted, letting you explore freely and collect anything you missed. Movement is still governed by the same system, but it feels more relaxed at that point.

Progression ties into both combat and deliveries. Completing tasks and winning battles increases your rank, unlocking more jobs. You’ll also earn money to spend on potions and equipment. If you want, you can revisit completed areas to farm resources, though doing so during an active delivery will cost you valuable time.

In the end, the game feels approachable. It’s not trying to be overly difficult or complex. You move forward by completing deliveries, improving your party, and unlocking new areas. There’s no heavy grind since characters gain new skills as your rank increases, and nothing is permanently missable since you can always return for enemy entries or rare items.
