Kindling is officially available on PC, macOS, and Linux.

If you played the demo during Steam Next Fest in February, the full game has grown considerably since then. If you've been following since last year, thank you for your patience.

What's new since the demo

More voice line variety for the protagonist
Five secondary abilities to discover and unlock — each hidden in the world
Two new seal encounters with unique mechanics
Full controller and Steam Deck support

What's new since the last update (November 2025)

A lot. The short version: new bosses (including a full final boss fight), a reworked tutorial, a new secondary attack system, ambient sound design, achievements, heat haze effects, reworked campfire mechanics, and hundreds of bug fixes and performance improvements. The game also now supports 10 languages, Italian was the latest addition.

The long version would be a novella. The game is better in every way that matters.

Feedback on Demo

Not my cup of tea. Unreasonably hard that its unfair. I'm no stranger to hard games, having really enjoyed Dark Souls, but this, is just plain torture. Main reasons: 1) When creating a flame, with Q, it tells you E to extinguish. This is super confusing. E doesn't extinguish. It explodes. 2) Enemies are too numerous for the tiny battle arenas. They are faster than you. You cannot dodge or escape their attacks (insofar as I've seen). Fire doesn't scare them off; they'll path right through a fire as if it...

The Forest Now Reacts

Break all the seals and the world knows. Fog rolls in. The sky darkens. Everything shifts. We've also given the forest a ghostlier look—your fire burns brighter against the shadows, and threats are easier to spot before they kill you.

Mushroom Escort

New encounter. Glowing mushrooms need to reach their destination. Their spores are lethal to anything that gets close—but they're fragile. Keep them alive.

Chests

Find a chest, make a choice. Three upgrades, pick one: move faster, throw fire quicker, or cooldown your campfire sooner. Every run plays different.

New Enemies

Something else is crawling out of the ground now. Lightning brings them. They shatter when you burn them down—if you're fast enough.

Spanish Translation

Full localization for Latin American Spanish.

Streamer Settings

Brightness controls and video-only mode for content creators.

Kindling has to be one of my favourite small games to pick up and play, having seen the creator work tirelessly to improve and bug fix this from the beginning has been truly inspirational. He actively improved the game from feedback and is willing to listen and go "How can I do X?". It was a huge honour to be able to work along side him to help play test the game.

The game is both really fun, simple to pick up and play, and easy to learn, but don't let that fool you, it can become a game to improve your decision making, reaction speed and general awareness of your surroundings in other games (Those damn pesky ghosts!).

The art style is incredible the voice lines are superb and generally it is an amazing game to play and I have always enjoyed playing this and I'm sure will continue into the future. My review 10/10 game, well worth the money! I can't wait to see what the dev will make next.

Cool concept, but needs difficulty settings

I liked the main character, and the theme of fire vs the spirits! I found the world to be really dark and hard to see, even after I turned the forest light to max. Also, it would be nice to have some difficulty settings, it seems like the character dies after one or two hits if her shield is down :( The 10sec cooldown for the campfire also seems rather long.....
