how do you use seasonings? [and other noob questions]

Do you apply them in some fashion? or are they only things your troups shoot through? Is there a way to park stuff for later, so you can buy 2 white to merg into blue, then add it to your blue food? or are you stuck just hoping the right food in the right colour comes along? or move it to a temporay area? is there a way to influence your rolls, or are you completely stuck with rng? [can you for example keep a item and roll the rest hoping to get another the same?] What do sour, salty etc do?...

Level 6 Difficulty

What is up with Level 6 difficulty? Enemy health doesn't seem static. It seems to increase every single wave, as well as their speed. Is there any point to actually playing at higher difficulties? I imagine all we get for it is a few unlocks. Shouldn't we get a few more bonuses for attempting higher difficulties? As it stands now, there doesn't seem to be much incentive to keep hitting my head against the wall on Level 6....
