Patch Notes – Latest Update

New Features

Ignite Mechanic

Added a new combat mechanic: Ignite
Instead of dealing direct damage to the enemy team, effects now contribute to an Ignite Pool

Microtransactions

Cosmetics can now be purchased using funds from your Steam Wallet

Cosmetic Content

Added a large number of new cosmetic items
New character skins available:
- Tyra
- Viceroy Martini
- The Merchant
New background options:
- Cold Lands
- Tropic Island

Default Background Update

The default background has been changed to Ghostly Sea
The previous Tropic Island background is now unlockable via in-game currency or purchase

Fixes & Improvements

Fixed inconsistencies in item and enchantment descriptions
End-of-combat stats now correctly track:
- Gold gained
- Ignite damage dealt
End-of-combat and end-of-run stat screens are now consistent

Bug Fixes

Fixed a reconnection issue
Fixed an issue where energy gained from Remora did not trigger energy gain effects

Unit Changes

Mantis Shrimp
- Now deals damage when diagonally adjacent units crit
Archer Fish
- Now interacts with diagonally adjacent units instead of units behind
Nautilus
- Now only interacts with diagonally adjacent units
Stingray
- Poison per tier increased by 1
Salamander
- No longer increases damage by tag
- Now applies poison when adjacent units deal damage
Sheepheads Wrasse
- Renamed from Sheapheads Wrasse
- Now heals when units in front or behind crit
- Gains Aggressive and Vital
- Now has crit chance
Remora
- Healing increased
- Now grants 2 energy (previously 1)
- Now grants energy to units in front and behind
Pufferfish
- Poison applied increased by +2 per tier
Red Salmon
- Now also deals damage when adjacent units Ignite

Enchantments

Fortiscious Binding
- Significantly buffed
- Now deals 30/35/40/45% of gold
Tempest Binding
- Now only triggers when energy is at maximum
- Damage is no longer increased by pearls
Surge Binding
- Now grants +2 maximum energy (previously +1)
Radiant Binding
- Now also grants resistance

Events

Gambler Event
- Added a “Sell All” button to sell all items obtained from the gambler

UI & Quality of Life

Advanced ability descriptions are now shown only when holding Shift
Tutorial updated to include guidance from Cracky on this feature

Notes

The game is not yet fully optimized for non-16:9 resolutions, but improvements are in progress

Tropical Gasflame

Energy gain increased to 1 / 1 / 2 / 2 (was 1 / 1 / 1 / 2)
New Ability: When the unit to the right crits, gain 1 / 1 / 1 / 2 Energy

Cucumber Nudibranch

Energy gain increased to 1 / 1 / 2 / 2 (was 1 / 1 / 1 / 2)
New Ability: When the unit to the right applies poison, gain 1 / 1 / 1 / 2 Energy

Sea Bunny

Energy gain increased to 1 / 1 / 2 / 2 (was 1 / 1 / 1 / 2)
New Ability: When the unit to the right heals, gain 1 / 1 / 1 / 2 Energy

Starfish

Energy gain increased to 1 / 1 / 2 / 2 (was 1 / 1 / 1 / 2)

PATCH 0.5 is here!

Finally time for some well awaited content! In this patch we added customization with the collection! You can now change your Anchor, Skin and inventory art to your liking. This is just a peak of what is to come.

Thank you for staying! And don't forget we will be in the Woman's Day sale tomorrow when this patch releases!

New Content

Tutorial Update

The tutorial has been updated and improved.
All players will be required to complete the tutorial once more.
Feedback on the new tutorial experience is highly appreciated.

New Currency: Doubloons

Introduced a new persistent in-game currency: Doubloons.
Players earn 1 Doubloon for each victory.
Doubloons can be used to purchase cosmetic items in the Cosmetic Store.

Cosmetic Store

Added a Cosmetic Store where players can unlock and equip cosmetic items.

Available cosmetic categories include:

Player Skins and Portraits
Anchor Skins
Inventory Skins

Additional functionality:

Owned cosmetics can be equipped directly from the store.
Unowned cosmetics can be purchased using Doubloons.

New Enchantments

Five new enchantments have been added:

Barbed Binding

When the unit blocks, it deals damage equal to a percentage of its block value.

Pestilent Binding

Doubles the poison applied by the unit.

Tempest Binding

Increases the unit’s damage based on its maximum energy.

Radiant Binding

The unit heals whenever it or an adjacent unit loses resistance.

Steel Binding

Increases the unit’s armor by +1.

Fixes and Improvements

Fixed an issue where fish description panels did not properly scale unless the game was played at 1920×1080 resolution.
General bug fixes and stability improvements.
Overall performance optimizations.

Feedback on the game as-is The concept is there and I love the variety in fish, but it does tend to be a little overwhelming if htey aren't introduced to us at a slower pace. Accessibility The UI could use some work. The hoverscreens that hold information are big, the font is hard to read and stretched, the window moves around if you slightly touch your mouse or switches to another selector altogether. The abundance of the wave transition screen is a tad jarring. ...

Text is off screen

I tried to play this game but anything that is on the right side of the screen has all the text off screen. Not sure who thought that was a good idea. Uninstalling.

bug report?

(tried joining the Discord from the post a month or so ago but the link has expired, didn't see any way in-game to report bugs so dropping this here) The slot upgrade "increases unit damage by 1 every activation" seems to suddenly go to 21 when the unit on it is upgraded to Gold (but then back down to 1 when upgraded to Diamond) I've seen it happen to me twice now, and to opponents a bunch - not sure exactly if any other conditions are needed for it to happen... I'm assuming that's unintended?...
