Version 1.1.1 - New enemy types + general improvements

Hello!

This week, we added two new enemy types and made general improvements, such as improving visibility in fights.

Here's a sneak-peek at the new enemy types.

Plague Stalker

This new enemy is both agile and dangerous, no matter the distance to his foe.

Plague Witch

This powerful elite enemy can easily end your run if you don't find a way to outsmart her.

You'll encounter these new enemies in Chapter II and Chapter III.

Visibility in fight

We reduced the intensity on several visual effects (VFX), such as explosions, burning, weapon trails and poison-effects. We toned down the colors, alpha and speed up / scattered several effects so they don't pile up and cover important parts of the fighting area. We also removed several thick smoke effects.

The "burning and poison" aura effects on characters are smaller and more subtle now. Some ethereal type enemies have a different colored burning effect to make it more visible and less distracting.

Chapter 1 - Dark forest lighting rework

We changed the lighting in the second half of Chapter 1. It keeps the general color theme, but is slightly brighter and have more vibrant colors. This will also improve how footage looks when uploaded to YouTube for instance, which is how many of you found the game.

Here's a list of some other improvements we made.

Projectiles will collide with the terrain now.
Poison arrows will no longer flicker.
Many arrows have an improved trail, making it easier to see and prettier to look at.
Fixed a bug where Max FPS would be ignored on "Medium" graphics settings (thanks for reporting this bug to us!)
Grublin's attack speed is adjusted so it's a bit easier to anticipate when he attacks, especially on higher difficulties.
Archer's (Goblin) punch and backflip animation are improved so it's easier to anticipate when to block/evade.
Fixed a bug where the Rogue's head disappeared after unequipping Thief / Shadow hood.
Consume Toxins (Bow ability) will cost 0 instead of 2, making it more viable.
Snipe, Holy Blast and Holy Crystal will no longer evade in the wrong direction, if triggered after evading through an enemy.

Version 1.1 - Steam acheivements + Ascension armors!

Hello everyone!

First of all, I'd like that thank each and everyone of you for supporting the game ❤️

We launched at a very busy window with games such as Slay the Spire 2 and Marathon. Despite this, we're very happy to see a lot of players found our game and new content creators engage with the game.

Achievements

As a part of update 1.1, we created 18 achievements for you to hunt.

We're planning on adding even more acheivements, but the most interesting thing with this piece of information is that we're more integrated into Steam now and will explore more options such as using Steam Cloud to keep saves between devices in future updates.

Ascension Armors

We made every character gradually receive cooler (cosmetic only) starting armor as they climb up the Ascension ladder. We also added the option in the General Settings menu to toggle if you prefer to see this armor over the regular one (and made sure you still see bare feet in case you manage to lose your boots).

This is an example of how the Warrior looks after completing Ascension 9 (surprise after level 10)

Future updates

We're going to prepare some more content for you to enjoy. More charms, more abilities, new enemy types and map changes to add more replayability / feel less repetitive.

PROGRESS WIPED (MAJOR BUG REPORT)

I was playing and lost power briefly. I booted the game up when my internet came back on and all my progress was wiped like I was just playing the game for the first time. I had unlocked all of the characters and now I have to start over.

New Update [Day 3 of Next Fest]

Game update \[Day 3 of Next Fest]

Next Fest is going great so far! Here's an update to give you even more things to play around with.

Here's what we added in this patch:

2 new absolutely insane abilities for the Rogue (One of them can easily deal over 100 damage ⁉️)
1 new ability for the Warrior (This one can deal massive damage as well)
New charms (new fire synergies 🔥)
Improved ability buffer. We added a new system to allow certain abilities to be cancelled earlier than before, making it smoother and easier to chain attacks together.
Improved projectiles for charms like Second Aid and Sash of Retaliation (+ one of the new mystery charms mentioned above). We reuse the same projectiles in a more clever way now to increase performance. We also improved the visuals / movement patterns for them.
Fixed some bugs where Enemies UI buff icons failed to disappear in different scenarios.
Fixed a bug where poison / fire applied to a target that is already defeated would remove said stacks from the current alive target.

New player wanting to add thoughts based on content i’ve seen

As the title suggests, im new, and I was thinking it could be cool to make a summoner/warlock character if not already planned, the way I see this being done with proper balancing, is your gear upgrades summons and not yourself, you are constantly very low health and your summons equip and use spells when you command them to instead of you using the spells. As for balancing wise so that you aren’t just a low health punching bag, try code the AI to target your summons first and maybe have them act like ...

Uhm holy hell, this game came out of left field. If you are busy playing Slay the Spire 2 or other roguelike deckbuilders, know that Trials of Valor is doing it's own thing, as is far more of action game. So I think you need to own both!

The only thing you need to hear, is that the combat is buttery smooth, and frankly one of the more unique systems I've ever seen, and I love character action games like sifu and bayonetta, fighting games, soulsbornes, etc. Feels good, looks good, made with love.

Roguelike elements have good build variety and power growth, although I wish there was a little more event variety, or path randomness.

It's got a little jank around the edges, like some underbaked ui, awkward menus, but nothing that touches the sick ass combat.

I could take or leave the low poly artstyle, but if that lead to more enemy variety and weapon/armor models then it was worth it. As a bonus, it runs well and has uncapped framerates. I was pushing 250fps on a 4090. Gonna try it on my steamdeck later, where I bet I can get 90 no prob.

Buzzword slam: It's a roguelike with a slay the spire-esque map, where in every combat mode you have to do very SoulCalibur feeling fights on a 2d plane, with an MMO-esque ability hotbar.

Buzzwords aside, while it's a bit rough around the edges (enemy variety especially), this is one of the most unique roguelikes I've ever found and I'm kind of in love with it. Absolutely cannot wait to see where the dev takes the game next :)

Small visual bug

If you go to a character and turn on ascensions, then go to another character who doesn't have any ascensions unlocked, the ascension skull will be show lit up even though they don't have access to ascensions yet

Major Bug Report:

I found a bug with the 3rd lava area where if you move the camera too far north past the boss it gets stuck out of bounds and you can't go back so you are unable to click any paths. This means I'm now soft-locked from beating my run. This was my first run and I had the full templar set to unlock the one character. :( QUICK EDIT: I might suggest a simple UI button in the future to re-center the map camera on your character, as this would fix this kind of bug and allow people to quickly go back to their c...
