FEBRUARY UPDATE

ITS BEEN A WHILE, HASN’T IT.

These last two months have been the longest- yet also shortest- months of my life. I’m bewildered by the amount of attention hitogata has been getting. I sincerely thought about 20 people would play the demo, not like, THIS MANY. All of the feedback means SO MUCH like you have no idea.

GAME UPDATE:

It’s so scary to show anything off because I want the experience of the full game to be as blind and spoiler free as possible. HOWEVER… I’ll oblige.

(audio is super unfinished or not present, dialogue and visuals and etc will most likely be touched up, this is a SUPER huge WIP.)

I haven’t been working on the game as much due to working on the demo and other hitogata related things, but it’s still coming along! im trying to find new workflows to get faster at this.

DREAMSCAPE 4 + DEMO JAPANESE TRANSLATION!?!:

A Japanese translation is (mostly) finished! It’s going to have some issues/imperfections upon release due to Japanese not being my native language, so I’d love to hear some feedback on it.

ALSO.... in the middle of January, the translation was playable at the DREAMSCAPE4 games convention in Tokyo!! It felt like a total fever dream. The reception from it has been great too (APPARENTLY.) The demo will release in the upcoming days, I’m a bit shy and might just release it on itch exclusively for a while. (for reasons stated above.)

SICK NEW GAME COVER:

As you may have seen, there's a kick(butt) new game cover drawn by LOBOTOLOID! I redid the steam page and various assets, using this cover as a base. Expect to see more updates to the steam page soon!

(also, expect to see some updates to the game in the next week that might provide some changes outside of just bug fixes. its nothing crazy or new content, just some reshuffling of events and songs!)

CLOSING THOUGHTS:

Hell yeah. Idk. Thanks for thinking my game is awesome. I’ve said this before but the full thing will blow you away. I promise. The full story made one of my friends feel sick, and it made another friend cry, so I think I’m doing something right.

DEMO IS OUT NOW!

WELL WELL WELL! THE DEMO IS OFFICALLY OUT ON STEAM! GO PLAY IT! (if you wanna…..)

To mark the occasion, let me say a few things!

hitogata as a game started off as a story idea, which became a comic idea, which became a game by accident. I’m (MOSTLY) making it mostly on my own, with my wonderful friends pitching in and assisting (check out @leylenangel and @LOBOTOLOID and @RobotChimpG on twitter!!). The fact the game got this far is still blowing my mind. I was driven to make something that appealed to me in every single way and I’m glad to see it click other people!!

Currently, the game is JUST over half done (outside of redo's, polishing, bugs, bonus content, etc). If you want a release date: I genuinely have no idea. Think of the farthest possible release date you can muster and multiply that by 1000. That seems like a safe bet for now!

Thank you to everyone who had faith in this game to be gnarly for the last while. Blah blah blah. All that corny stuff. (I really do mean it though like holy f^%%#$% idk where i'd be without you!!!)

Hello! I’m excited to announce that the demo will be releasing on the 16th of December! The amount of work me + the team have put into the game this past year has been INSANE and I’m oh-so-proud of how it is turning out.

The demo is planned to cover 1/5th of the full game, but I doubt that’ll stick. Hitogata has always been envisioned as a game that starts slow- but then evolves into a full sprint foaming at the mouth monster by the end. So I hope you enjoy.

Once the demo comes out, I’ll try to have a proper update on the state of the game and even show off a few small things. SO STAY TUNED FOR THAT!
