Your basic attack and the strong attack both lunge you towards the enemy. If you move too close you end up hurting yourself anyways. Why?

So just letting you know that the RMB, the lunge and dash, is very good movement tech. In fact, a little too good, as I suddenly found myself outside of bounds, pulling myself out of the woods where the spiders can't get me.

it clearly needs polish but I love the art style and the combat has potental. hopefully the devs wont give up on it.

I had a hard time with it for a few reasons. I didn't get too far in - just past the first two switches - before I got destroyed by a spider that, for one reason or another, and unlike the spiders that came before, I could not injure. Instead, every attack I did to it would hurt me instead. After adjusting the volume, the harshness of the middling sound design became much less of an issue. Still, the music and the sound effects aren't very pleasing to the ear and seem relatively uninspired. Like someon...
