I am unable to enter the combination on the desk drawer lock....I know the combination but pressing the LMB does nothing???

The game breaks for me everytime at the very end. It is after I solved all the puzzles where you revisit rooms and touch the symbols on the walls in order, then the prison dissolves and you walk up to the man on the gurney. He says "find my body", the screen goes white... and then I am stuck in some weird outdoor area in the dirt. I can't move, I just see the starry sky above and I am surrounded by dirt.
