Before buying, understand this game has, and rightfully so, been called the 'dwarf fortress' of tycoon games. There's a LOT of variables at play and it can be very overwhelming at first if you're not familiar with finance. But in terms of what it offers, you will not find any game with a better financial simulation, closest comparison is probably Capitalism Lab + expansions, but that's more orientated towards the management of businesses while Wallstreet Raider is more a simulation of the market itself, and it does this by simulating over a thousand companies in a constantly changing world. If finance is your interest, than you literally can't find a better game, because how many video games allow you to do options trading?

The remake has changed the interface of the game to resemble a modern trading terminal, alongside newer options such as being able to play beyond the original 35 year cap with a new 999 year cap.

Worth noting Wall Street Raider is being the big guy in the market; you're playing as a multi-millionaire or billionaire to begin with and the game is geared around this, most notably that you can only purchase stocks by percentage. The original developer made a game called Speculator, which runs off the same set up and model as Wall Street Raider only it's geared towards being a day trader with an initial $100,000, if you're more interested in the 'little guy' side of finance then I recommend looking at that product. Both games are beautiful, though there's arguably more to offer in Wall Street Raider with the extension of corporations, such as buying, ownership, founding, hostile takeovers, lawsuits, manipulating the market, and so forth. With 40 years of updates, the game was made with love and it shows.

The underlying game is quite interesting and fun, I enjoyed it for the time I was able to play. Unfortunately, the new UI that is wrapped around the core game is vibe coded Electron technology like so much other garbage nowadays. That fact combined with the expected bugs of early access make this a strong recommendation to skip this. The game is currently unplayable due to hard locks and crashes that get worse with each update as the developer attempts to (have claude) fix the growing instability. The developer complaining about Claude token usage for future features is a bit off putting and this looks like it may be a repeat of other failed AI trash. Check back in on this after EA.

To be fair, this is probably the most accurate, realistic, and fun stock market simulator ever. I played the old version, joined the playtest, and now finally purchased the Early Access version, and I regret nothing.

This game provides hours and hours of learning, random shenanigans, and pure fun gameplay. Do you want to go all-in on oil futures expiring next month? This game lets you do it. Do you want to screen for stocks and become the next Warren Buffett? You can do that too. It basically lets you do anything you could think of in terms of the stock market.

If you are interested in the stock market, want to learn more, or simply want to try something new, this game is highly recommended.
