We’re proud to announce that The House of Hikmah launches April 8th on Steam!

The wait is almost over. Soon you’ll be able to explore nine distinct realms within the House of Wisdom, meet scholars inspired by history, transform elements and solve puzzles using an ancient heirloom, and embark on an immersive healing journey about loss, legacy and hope, told through a captivating narrative.

We've been fortunate to work with so many talented artists who have helped bring this game to life. The full game will be fully voice acted in both English and Arabic, featuring Sophia Eleni as the voice of Maya, Battlefield 6’s Nezar Alderazi, Assassin's Creed Mirage’s Laila Alj, Split Fiction’s Ben Turner, Talal Karkouti, and more.

As you play, you'll listen to the melodious tones of a soundtrack created by award-winning composer Austin Wintory, of Journey and Flow, among others. His music adds depth and dimension to this emotionally resonant game.

When I first started the game the camera flickered pretty badly, though this eventually seemed to settle down. I spent most of the time playing confused about what I was supposed to be doing, why something worked or what I could do. In particular I knocked one of the cubes off a tilted column but had no idea I could then pick it up and it took me ages then to work out why that mattered. When I reached the platform with the lens / balance, I still don't know why I had to throw the cubes through it, nothi...

It’s happening! We’re thrilled to be participating in Steam Next Fest and invite everyone to step inside The House of Hikmah and try the demo.

If you’re new here, hi! We’re Lunacy Studios, a small indie team of industry veterans who are making an emotionally resonant game about grief, loss, and the path to healing. This is our debut game and our first public demo. We’re glad you found us.

This is your chance to explore one of nine unique scholar realms, solve alchemical puzzles, meet scholars inspired by history, and experience Maya’s journey. The level we chose for the demo wasn’t random. It sets the emotional and visual tone for everything that follows: curiosity, reflection, and the quiet weight of memory.

The music you’ll hear throughout the demo is composed by award-winning composer Austin Wintory. His work has shaped some of the most emotionally resonant soundtracks in games, and having his music guide Maya’s journey brings a depth and warmth we couldn’t be more grateful for. We hope you’ll take a moment to just listen while you play.

The demo takes approximately 30 minutes to complete, longer if you take the time to stop and enjoy the scenery (we recommend it!).

Our characters were inspired by real historical figures, so they have strong personalities and a lot to say. How long will the demo stay up?

How long you gonna keep this demo available? Only up till March 2? Only up till release date? Continuing past the release date? I ask because I want to fit it into my streaming schedule. Show it to my audience. So I wanna know exactly when it's disappearing....

Some of our favorite things during playtests is seeing players have that satisfying "aha!" moment, a surprise they didn't expect, or a moment of joy witnessing the exchange between characters. What was yours?

Demo Impressions

I enjoyed it. I didn't have any issues with any of the mechanics and, apart from needing to throw three blocks into that thing being a bit tedious, I thought everything was pretty well-designed. I had a few small bugs where my camera went into things, or into the main character, but they were rare. My only actual complaint/bug to report is that I can't select Quit with the gamepad. Pressing down on the main menu to try to quit just takes me back to the top of the menu without ever selecting Quit. Also, t...

Jumping feels terrible

It's way too floaty and it's hard to judge the jump distance for me. That's probably my biggest issue with the demo, hope to see it improved in the final game, because everything else made me REALLY interested.
