While I like the graphic style, and the tools are easy to use, there isn't a lot to do. It's easy to complete all the levels (challenges) within two hours. After that, there's not much left to do.
While the sandbox mode has some different grid options for snapping buildings to, it doesn't have anything else aside from a potentially larger map area.
There are some residents, birds, and animals that come to your town, but they don't seem to do anything, and you can't zoom in close enough or take a street-level view. The height for buildings is capped rather short for all buildings, and you can't connect buildings across upper floors to create archways between them (e.g. across roads or gardens).
A strange but large paper-airplane shape sometimes pops up during construction. It can't be moved or change, but will disappear after a few minutes. The doors and windows sometimes disappear from buildings, leaving smooth walls.
I have a lot of questions: What do farms do? And why no farm buildings? Or farmers? Why are hedges considerd "farms" and what do they do? What do churches do and why aren't there priests and nuns to work in them? What's the difference between apartments and houses, aside from design style? Do wells do anything? Do monuments? What do canals do? Why aren't there boats on the canals? Why only one style of road (dirt)? What's the difference between lawns and parks?
It's never clear what these features do or why you want or need them, and they don't seem to work together or be required once the minimum number of challenge blocks is met.
It's a good idea as a starting point; it would be great as early-access; and even better at a much lower price for what you get. But I can't recommend it as it is right now. If it had more features and functions, and there were actual connections between the residents and structures, I'd recommend it.

This is a nice cozy city builder, no costs, no management, just building. Overall, I reall like the full game. If you've played the demo than the full game adds a number of improvements. The walls are wonderful paired with the larger maps as you can actually build a city inside the walls. I also really liked the ability to place wells and statues, not to mention roads! There are some new maps and they're much bigger than the demo maps so you can make much larger builds. Having the ability to check the grid as an overlay can be helpful for seeing where to put (or not) buildings.

The only real complaint I have is that there are no shops. You can place appartments, houses, cannals, churchs, keeps, walls, parks, lawns, crops, fountains and roads. However, there are no shops which can be a little frustrating if trying to build a full town.
