I’ve only spent about 3 hours with Lost Soul Aside so far, but I already feel confident enough to share a review that might help those who are still hesitating because of the mixed reception surrounding the game.

From the very beginning, Lost Soul Aside pulls you in with its gameplay mechanics, combat system, skill progression, impressive visuals, and overall high production quality. The voice acting is surprisingly solid, and the dialogues feel well balanced—not too short, not too long. The story isn’t bad either, although in many moments you may find yourself skipping cutscenes, something the developers almost seem to expect by giving you a dedicated skip button.

If you’re reading this review, here’s the most important thing to remember: Lost Soul Aside feels like a perfect combination of the intense, skill-based combat found in Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, and Final Fantasy.

Right from the start, the game demands serious skill—comparable to playing Ninja Gaiden on Hard difficulty. It constantly pushes you to improve, react faster, play smarter, and master increasingly complex mechanics.

This is not a game that carries the player. It requires strong reflexes, quick decision-making, and the ability to execute effective combat combinations. Boss fights are challenging, and their animations, transformations, and attack patterns are genuinely impressive.

The game only has four chapters plus a prologue, which further reinforces that this title is aimed at players who enjoy intense, high-quality challenges inspired by some of the best action games out there.

The soundtrack is another strong point. It never feels intrusive and occasionally delivers moments that genuinely elevate the experience.

One of the more unique elements is your flying companion, which adds personality, atmosphere, and a fresh dynamic to the gameplay.

If you’re looking for a casual adventure and expect an easy ride, this probably isn’t the game for you. It can be frustrating, and you’ll likely get angry more than once. For some players, that frustration will be motivating; for others, it may be a dealbreaker—which likely explains the mixed reviews.

That said, for hardcore players like me who enjoy difficult, demanding combat, Lost Soul Aside is absolutely fantastic.
