I absolutely adore this game. I tried the demo during Steam's Next Fest back in 2025 and the wait was SO worth it.

I adore the mix of shmup and rhythm game design but also a bit of beat-em-up with how enemies work. Each enemy has their own specific pattern but by mixing groups of different enemies, you get a different puzzle and situation to solve! It's brilliant! Mix that with gorgeous visuals using collage art for enemies and simple repeating texture hallways for the stages that match the musical theming, and you have one hell of an experience.

Of course this is saying nothing about the music itself which, for a game about breakbeats, you sure as hell can expect to be fantastic. A lot of genres and subgenres are covered in this game from trance to detroit techno, to dubstep, to even 'deconstructed club music' which was a funny surprise. Everything's mixed well, the breakbeats are well synced with the background tracks plus the player's input so they can express themselves as they please.

Really my only major problem with this game is bullet deflecting is a bit difficult to do due to how the shields work around your character and how fast you move. Also stage 4 is where this game's gloves come off and expect you to know all the little ins-and-outs of using your tools to not only attack but defend. It gets very hard, very quick and that might be a turn off for some.

Overall though, I absolutely adore this game and the sense of musical control and presentation I haven't really felt since playing Rez on PS2, and I think that says a lot for me personally. Excellent stuff!

Very fun game in the vein of a shoot 'em up with some pretty unique quirks about it. Despite finding the concept hilarious (especially the amen break as the menu sfx), There's a surprising amount of love for electronic music on display and the game is extremely competent in its simplicity. The enemies are memorable with easily identifiable patterns, the gameplay loop while tricky to understand, creates an engaging balance of attack and defence requiring good reflexes, priority targeting and crowd control, especially after the difficulty spike of stage 5.
The soundtrack is thankfully great, going through a good amount of electronic music subgenres (sometimes even explaining them) and the artstyle is really fun, full of character and creative puns.
