what is the point of arcade mode?

I love tube shooters, but I wonder if this has native mouse support so I can play it with my homemade spinner.

I dunno what's wrong with it, but it keeps breaking and it's getting annoying. This sounds real stupid but I can't figure out how to get past the screen with the wavy text and spheres... I tried every key available (the only one that does anything is F11 to change window size), I also tried disabling internet (isn't that the game's story?) and now I'm out of ideas. Videos of the game all start in the seemingly real main menu....

And I don't hate this.
