Upcoming Demo and progress update

Hello again, Slumbering Woods adventurers!

We’re still deep in the forest, building things, polishing things, and squashing bugs. Bit by bit, the world is coming together, and we’re getting closer to our big goal: the first public Demo, planned for early next year!

One of the features we’re excited to show you today is jumping and climbing. We love hidden areas and shortcuts, and these mechanics give us much more flexibility when creating them. These new movement abilities make exploring the woods feel much more alive, and they work together with the plants you’ve grown. We’ve attached a short video so you can see it in action.

We’re also updating crafting and planting, finalising the story for the demo, and working through a long list of smaller improvements. It’s a lot, but it’s all starting to feel like the world we want you to experience.

If you’d like to be part of early playtests, we’d love to have you. Join us on Discord[discord.gg], where we’ll soon start inviting players to try out early builds and share feedback.

Will It Run on Steam Deck? Absolutely!

People have been asking us: “Will it work on Steam Deck?”

Short answer: yes. Slightly longer answer: we wanted it to be Steam Deck–first from the start, so we’d have to try pretty hard to make it not work at this point.

Even though Slumbering Woods is still early in development, we built it with controllers in mind from day one (we're still working on the mouse support though 😅). The menus behave and the buttons do what you expect.

And on the Steam Deck? We were pleasantly surprised how good it looks and feels - the screen size suits the art, the colours pop on the OLED screen, and it’s just cosy. We think the best way to play cosy games is on a couch or in bed, wrapped in warm blankets with a cup of hot tea (you can probably guess it’s winter here now).

Hello, Slumbering Woods adventurers!

We’ve been working hard on improving the planting mechanics and are excited to share that we’ve made great progress! Plants will soon be even more important in your journey through the mystical woods. Not only will they help shape the environment, but they will also play a key role in solving puzzles and unlocking new areas.

In addition to plants, we’ve started adding bugs to the game! These little critters aren’t just for decoration; players will be able to catch them and use them to solve puzzles. We’re sure these new additions will add an exciting twist to your gameplay experience.

To give you a sneak peek of these exciting changes, we’ve created a brand-new gameplay video showcasing the latest features! Check it out and see how the planting mechanics and bug-catching work in action.

We’re currently working on refining the planting puzzles, and we’re planning to release a demo later this year. In the meantime, if you’re eager to try the game, come join us on our Discord server for updates, sneak peeks, and to chat with other fans of Slumbering Woods.
