fun ride, not too punishing unlike some of these games. also it was wise not to try and charge people too much for it. great job on all counts dev!

In a world FULL of roguelike/Lite options, this one really stands out. The theme of the game is so refreshing from the typical blocky, cutesy games we get.

Combat feels so good and difficulty of the game is punishing but not unfair. (aka dying to greed because i rolled into a cluster of souls).

SO much meta game content, weapons and playable crusaders makes it fun and exciting.

10/10.

+++ Vampire Survivors, but it's DooM: I kinda stayed away from the Vampire Survivors trend in gaming until recently when I bought this game and a few others in the genre at heavy discounts. The low prices help and so does DooM Eternal being one of my favourite games, so seeing a Vampire Survivors with a DooM coat of paint is easing me in nicely. I really like that there's plenty of permanent progression and unlocks in this game too.
++ Replayability: Not just through the amount of characters, levels and difficulties, but through the large quantity of acquirable buffs and weapon combos too. It is mostly RNG what choices are available, but I've already had runs go very differently to each other simply based on what character and weapon I chose at the start. Some so overpowered it's fun, some so underpowered I end up restarting after a few levels because I'm not getting good rolls for my chosen starting weapon.
++ Cool Characters: Several different 'Doom Guys' to choose from, all with different abilities, stats and appearances from another. So far I've only got the first 3 unlocked and they've played quite differently from each other.
++ Decent Combat: What if DooM Guy had 5 arms and a gun in each of them? After ton of weapons, upgrades, stat buffs, and special abilities, you really feel the impact and strength of your character it comes together really nicely with the size of the hordes you have to deal with. You'll have a blast during your first few runs. I really liked this one ability I got where you can carry around the Crux (which is an upgradeable crucifix that sits in the middle of the map that acts as a bit of a holdout point). It felt like that super meaningful ability that gelled well with my character and pushed them into a whole new level of power.
+ Useful Options: Damage numbers off is a must for me, I dont need to see that dumb s#!t filling my screen, so thank you. And thanks for including the ability to toggle between console controller button prompts, it's so much better than having to mod them in myself like I've done in other games! I also appreciate the different aiming modes, sometimes I like to sit back and leave it on Auto to relax more and sometimes I feel like I can do better getting my hands dirty in Manual.
+ Honesty when it comes to use of AI: [REVIEW EDIT: In the very first update, mere days after release, the dev did remove the AI gen icons. They've removed AI clause in the description so you can't read it now, so here's what I wrote in this point anyway:] I am admittedly someone who rejects generative AI in all forms of art and media, not just video games. I hate it and hate when ashamed dev's hide it more-so, so their honesty here is refreshing and the promise of replacing what very little AI art assets they actually used in the game is noble and I wish more dev's did it. Point if they actually keep their word.
+++ Current Price: Not only was it on sale, but part of a discount bundle with a game I already own, so I was able to get it at the best possible price.

--- Controller Bugs: I had some issues with the menus where I'd lose functionality using a controller, forcing me to use the mouse, and worse than that, forcing me to ALT-F4 to close the game down when there was no way to close a tutorial pop-up window. Furthermore, I chose to display PlayStation inputs and some windows still display Xbox inputs.
--- Very Similar Character Abilities: First five characters kinda have the same ability. They're all just a Dash with the only difference being whatever their preferred damage type is. Kinda weird right? I expected something more elaborate like a groundpound for one, a turret for another. How about a deployable shield or wall or one that can supercharge their ranged weapons for a limited time?
-- Uninspired Music: Ultimately quite disappointing for anyone who actually listens to metal regularly like I do. A few of the tracks can be serviceable, but most are what sounds like the cookie-cutter kinda metal you'd find on a 'royalty free' music site. The soundtrack simply isn't entertaining, unique or personal enough to even be compared to other games with metal OSTs like DooM Eternal, Killing Floor 2 or Metal: Hellsinger and so, after about 2 hours, I'm muting and putting on my own playlist.
-- Character Customisation Locked Behind Supporter Pack (Paywall): I'd be fine with having a few skins and stuff in the pack, but the whole feature? What a shame.
-- Boring Boss Fights (so far): To clarify, I've fought the several bosses so far, some twice over and they really aren't interesting. Perhaps it's the difficulty I'm on, the genre the game is in holding it back, or the large amount of buffs you have after 15 levels of building up that turn you into a meatgrinder, but I dont find myself doing anything special for bosses. Just boils down to using your ability to dodge their attacks. Apparently, some of them you don't even have to kill to pass, I've had two that just seemed to die when the timer ran out and the game gave me the win.
- Flaw in The Story/This Christian God: You play a dude, sent out by your religion to prevent the apocalypse by becoming a one-man killing machine; Killing demons to harvest their souls to give to God for blessings (upgrades). I'm not religious, I'm not a religious hater either. But like, with this game clearly being based on the Christian faith's God, isn't God's blessings being completely transactional in a time of great need and great evil a sin that goes directly against the religion we're portraying? Like how arms dealers benefit during wartime when people are suffering type of thing? Just thinking because, it says we're God's weapon, preventing the apocalypse, and we trade demon souls for blessings...but if you're a regular guy in this universe and cant possibly fight and kill a demon, does God kinda abandon you in your time of need or what lol [REVIEW EDIT: This got some attention and the dev replied basically saying, quote; "It's a fictional world I created. I wouldn't read too much into it or look for deep philosophical messages." and then hit me with the disclaimer you see at the start of many games 'characters/names depicted are all fiction yadayada' hahaha Apologies if I incorrectly thought your game about God, demons, hell, cathedrals, crucifixes, holy energy, divine energy etc. etc. had something to do with Christianity! :D ]

They said they will be replacing them in the future, so points to you if you actually do that. However, a human localiser lost their job because you didn't want to pay for them and I've seen complaints from our non-English versions of the game of some errors.
