We've been building Runeborn for two whole years, and 1.0 is finally here!

Thank you so much for supporting us with our demo and in Early Access. We've tried to implement much of the feedback and fix bugs. We're excited for you to explore the new content. We hope you love it as much as we do :)

• 4 New Runebooks!

• Added Areas! Completing areas with new Runebooks rewards you with permanent Boons!

• New Music

• Steam Achievements

• New Leaderboard server that will allow much larger scores to be submitted

• Enemy and Elite Variants! Each Area has its own pool of Enemies and Elites

• Each Area has its own Leaderboard

• Editions are now unlocked after completing the final Area, to replay that Area with additional modifiers

• Each Runebook now starts with a "Bound" Trinket, which cannot be sold and will grow stronger in your Run

• Shops are now progressively unlocked

• Added Collections to the in-game toolbar

• Never see the same enemy options two levels in a row!  And enemies you fight will no longer show up as options in the same run - doesn't apply in Endless

• Some Challenges/Achievements have been made easier

As we transition from Early Access to our full 1.0 release, we’ve made some adjustments to the early-game flow to ensure a smoother experience for new players.

For our veteran players, this means some shops you previously accessed will need to be re-unlocked. While this might feel like a change of pace, you can get back to your familiar setup by progressing through and completing Area 3.

Why the change? Aside from a more balanced learning curve, we’ve packed the journey with brand-new content for you to discover along the way:

• New Boon System: Harness powerful buffs to boost your build.

• More to Explore: Discover new books, tougher enemies, and entirely new areas.

• Beyond the Horizon: There is now content that goes far beyond what was available in Early Access!

As a bonus, anyone playing with a save from Early Access will have all books unlocked to start playing with from the start! We recommend waiting until you unlock the scroll shop before trying out the Scrollfolio.

The time has finally come to share the news we’ve been working toward. We are incredibly excited to announce that Runeborn: Shadows Awakened will officially launch into 1.0 on March 10th, 2026!

Early Access has been an incredible journey of discovery, and your feedback has shaped Runeborn into the experience it is today. But we aren’t just crossing a finish line, we’re opening the gates to a massive amount of new content, polished systems, and a world that feels more alive (and dangerous) than ever.

To celebrate the announcement, we’ve put together a brand-new trailer and broadcast stream to give you a glimpse of the shadows that are about to awaken:

We’ll be sharing more detailed deep-dives as we get closer to launch, but here is a taste of what to expect when the clock strikes 1.0 on March 10th:

• New Frontiers: Explore brand-new areas filled with unique challenges.

• The Bestiary Expands: Face off against a host of new enemies, deadly Elites, and Mini-Bosses that will test even the most optimized builds.

• Master the Collections: A new progression system that rewards your persistence and tracks your mastery over the world of Runeborn.

• Claim Your Glory: With individual area leaderboards, you can finally prove who the true master of each biome is.

• Complete Overhaul: From a revamped tutorial for new players to stabilized Endless modes and a massive visual polish across the board, the game has never looked or felt better.
