I find that battles become chaotic very quickly, which I find rather frustrating. I played mostly Rome vs Carthage so far, but tested Athens vs Sparta to see how badly they will devolve into chaotic mini-battles, as they most of all should stay in a static and coherent formation until one side breaks. Within moments after the hoplites met, some units advanced two units deep into the enemy line, at which point they got flanked, at which point the flanking units got flanked, those flanking units got flanked ...

I won Adamclisi as Rome but didn't get it

Strategos is really good but I just wish the battles would last much longer at least twice as long. In clashes between units if it lasted longer it would give more time to make stategic decisions without pausing the game all the time. Maybe im old and slow but it can become a chaotic click fest. I know that the speed can be reduced but if the engagements of the units lasted longer ,better morale etc it would make the game way better and the battles would still be over quickly enough. How intuitive will the newbie navigation be/or is? (newbie for this style of rts)

First off, I'm only basing this off of a whole bunch of videos I've watched since I've been holding off on buying the game for now. My impression is that the game lacks atmosphere and the sense of an epic battle due to the way units behave. Cavalry and elephant charges in particular look like they have no weight and are anything but impressive. They seem to kinda just trot right into the enemy with minimal force. There doesn't seem to be a function for units to be knocked over or thrown about and it feels ...
