Pretty good for a solo project. Not much more to say about it than that. I liked the story and the pace at which it unfolded. Mechanics were intuitive. Art was fine and consistent throughout.

There were a significant amount of typos and grammatical errors, mainly around apostrophe usage for some reason, or sentence structure not quite making sense like "I'll should check it out" or something like that. I would be far more harsh about this if we were talking about a larger dev team, but still, a little proofreading wouldn't hurt.

On the surface Feline Forensics seems to have the hallmarks of a game that is right down my alley - noir, murder mystery, adventure game, and a kittycat. While it most certainly ticks these boxes I am still a bit on the fence about the whole experience.

Feline Forensics comes without instrucions on how to play and is eager to inform you that a "controller is the best way to play the game." Of course this is not made clear beforehand and I am certainly not going to buy one for the game, but luckily you can play the game with keyboard.
Unfortunately you'll have to find out for yourself how to control yourself in the world.

Out of the box the initial experience was not positive - a 3d box but primarily with 2d elements (including a 2d main character) gives it more of a "diorama" vibe. The type we used to make on rainy days before we had Internet.
Getting the character to move happens with WASD. Q brings up a notebook on the case, Z a notebook about the character movements, E the exhibit inventory and C a notebook where you will have to enter your findings, more on that later.

Once you realise that you can "move" the box you're in with left and right arrow and you can see around the room, not just the initial angle, the landscape increases and the puzzles become doable.

Once you're out of the tutorial office, you are taken to a museum where there is a heist and a murder going on, and it's up to you to solve these. The story gets an interesting twist halfway. By interacting with characters

Extra information for the players: when you see a "thought bubble" by the menu items, there is something new to explore in that menu. When you see a "thought bubble" by someone, that person has extra dialogue. When you see a red circle around the C that indicates the log file, it's time to fill in your log page.

So how are the puzzles? Linear. Very. To the point of the ridiclousness almost. As moving around and finding active spots can be a hassle this may cause players to get "stuck" without finding where next - maybe even assume that there is a bug.

The core of the puzzles is a Log that needs to be filled in, as you would have in the Case of the Golden Idol. There's a summary on what there is at that point (for instance in the first real chapter you line up the suspects with their descriptions along with a brief summary of the case so far). A paragraph may be "The _ _ the _ causing the _ to be _. and it's up to you to figure out what it's supposed to say - however you can only use words that you found prior. You find words in dialogue or in your notes/ This may hinder non-native speakers.

All in all I had fun whipping through this. I'm not sure if I would recommend it due to the appearance, but the dialogue is fun, the story works, an there is a lot of landscaping. With the issues that the 3D gives (including nauseating "screen bobbing"), it would have been tons more effective as a 2D game.

Nice little game, a bit similar in approach to the Golden Idol games with the learning of words and filling in of sentences, but with an interesting take that the things you learn at first may not always bee the truth, as other suspects may give contradictory information that needs to be set straight before you can proceed.
The experience was enjoyable, but it sometimes felt it a bit painfull to fill out the book at the end of each part. There were too many words missing from the sentences, and too many words to pick from, meaning that even if you had understood the plot, it could sometimes be a bit difficult to deduct what story you were actually supposed to write.
