Seriously good so far, gonna play each update and probably get some friends on this, a big issue the devs can fix in less than 2 minutes.

The camera controller is not being updated with the physics engine, this is causing a minor stutter / ugly fps effect on anything moving, please fix this asap it is genuinely just a toggle in whatever game engine you are using.

Another thing is majority of the pack a punched version of the guns feel very, meh, some of them feel insanely strong, some of them feel like they don't do much.

Also don't like max ammo not refilling your weapon clip, and some audio plays multiple times being very jarring.

Otherwise good stuff, this is the best cod zombies like game I have played made by an indie team.

This game is the best attempt at recreating old school CODZombies on the market. It is a bit rough around the edges as of this review. Performance and audio design are this game's main issue but it is ofc in early access. And these devs are well aware of the problems and working on them! Normally I'd recommend being cautious with Early Access games but these devs actually communicate with their playerbase on Discord and listen to feedback directly. So I 100% recommend hopping on while in EA. And most importantly... the game is just fun as hell.

Its good and very close to CoD zombies but needs a lot of work to really be perfect. If you consider the game is in early access then its fantastic.

Biggest issues:

1. Noises across the whole game kind of suck. The guns sound boring/flat and need to be bassier or more interesting. The demons are awfully quiet and dont indicate how close they are to you with increasing loudness. The weapon box doesnt make any noises and especially makes no noise when leaving or relocating. Also, the player doesnt make any noise to indicate how low their health is. Having feedback of heavier breathing or pained sounds would help know if im about to die or not.

2. The demons pathing gets broken a lot. They get stuck on windows and walls pretty often. The miniboss demon gets stuck and ends up killing himself sometimes

3. The guns are kind of lackluster. Most of them are just not very good and their upgrades are rather boring as well. There are a surprising amount of guns with small mags that i guess justifies Bartovs Writ but even then the overall capacity is low so i dont see a point. If the gun has a small mag or is bad, its infusion at the very least should be amazing

4. Some of the abilities just kind of suck. Soul Ember and Centrifuse are utterly pointless as soon as you get past level 15-20. Bartovs Writ is a cool idea but is absolutely useless. It would be better if it gave you infinite ammo instead of taking from stockpile and removing the need to reload. The Watcher is good until round 10-15 and then you never need to use it again. The only ones worth using are Demons Fang, Timesplitter, and Blood Splicer. I only bring Soul Ember over Demons Fang so i can feel like im doing some AOE despite knowing its doing almost nothing. Oh and Timesplitter doesnt work on large trains because the other demons just push them through the timeslow. Allowing us to upgrade these abilities would solve a lot of these problems.

5. More guns need worthwhile infusions. Most of them suck without Crit+. Only the AK and Crystalizer are worth using late game from my experience. More of the guns need to be worth using and actually viable late game. The galil and AK cost about the same but the AK blows it, and every other gun, out of the water. The galil is pathetic in comparison and has half the ammo capacity despite the similar cost.

6. The Turret is infinitely worse than the Scythe. It loses blood way too fast, cant be moved, and loses blood/charge when its not even firing. You basically would never take this over Scythe. Even if all 4 of your friends had turrets and held a spot it just wouldnt work because only so many demons can spawn at a time. The turrets die before they can really make a meaningful clearing impact on the level. The Scythe on the other hand can clear an entire train and be put away, preserving charge so you can use it on the next train.

7. In solo play, even on the lowest settings with good pc specs, the game lags massively when you go down.

8. The Demon miniboss just isnt fun at higher levels. On level 30+ with a Crit+ AK (the strongest gun in the game if you consider its a wall gun you can buy ammo for) it takes 3-4 restocks to kill. Its just not fun to constantly restock ammo just to kill it and he pushes or slows down the other demons which is just annoying. Either make his head hitbox hittable so i can kill him before he loses his head from the stomach weakpoint or make the weakpoints do more damage. Around level 25 and beyond it becomes a slog to kill him.


Things that will change as the game updates but should be noted:

1. Without a codex, theres no indication what most of the tarot cards or drops do. You can figure out some of them like Vitalis, Rebirth, and Dancer, but Devil and Huntress are a mystery to me. As far as I can tell its as follows:

Vitalis: More health
Rebirth: Revive teammates quickly / revive the solo player if playing alone
Dancer: Reload more quickly
Devil: More blood from kills or more damage?????
Huntress: More critical damage or bullet penetration?????

2. No end game / escape / easter eggs

3. Would like some camping spots implemented as currently you have to run/train the demons exclusively. There are turrets and really cool spells that give a great potential for camping with friends and setting up defenses but nothing is really good enough to allow for it, including the map.

4. Need way more tarot cards to make things interesting, fun, and allow players to have more unique builds. Not allowing us to go over 4 without obtaining the perk drop is kind of annoying but i get it. If you guys add 10+ tarot cards then i think the limit needs to be increased.

5. More maps and workshop access so players can make their own! (please make a trenches map and feel free to make some quirky small maps as well. They dont all need to be grand scale. I dont mind a gimmick map every now and then.)

6. Theres no bullet penetration as far as i can tell, not really sure why.

7. Game needs more guns

8. The free perk drop doesnt drop nearly often enough. Not saying it should be common but it feels like 1% of the time currently.

9. Would be cool if a special weapon dropped occasionally

10. Need more enemy / miniboss types


Some Praise:

1. The Scythe + Crystalizer combo is fantastic. The AOE blood gain from Crystalizer and cancelling the scythe after clearing a train means you can recharge scythe in just a mag. This allowed me to hit wave 50 much faster than manually clearing the waves with the guns since the scythe retains charge and instakills enemies

2. The map is really well done and interesting. Its easy to figure out, get around, and very easy to remember.

3. The game is similar enough to CoD zombies that it was all really familiar and easy to pick up and play.

4. The Demon miniboss is an interesting and fun addition. Hes not too difficult but keeps you on your toes when he shows up. I think he needs to be slightly easier to deal with at higher levels. Thankfully, he drops an ability every time he dies so thats awesome.

5. The explosive demons that spawn give good auditory indication of where they are AND are an interesting way to mix things up
