The Remake of the End of the Greatest RPG of All Time has OFFICIALLY gone Gold and launches in less than 1 week on May 28th!

Well it actually went Gold like two weeks ago but we've been busy. There's lots to talk about so let's hop into it!

Bitsummit and Portland Indie Game Con

We just attended Bitsummit! Thank you to all the incredible folks who came by and played our game, and all the amazing developers I got to gush to about their own work.

Not only that but this COMING weekend I'll be in Portland, OR for Portland Indie Game Con... PIGCon for short. There I'll be doing a full postmortem on this game... mere days after launch...

...I think this is the team's way of forcing me to stop changing things.

Release Window + Dev Update

Hey all, welcome to the March 2026 update for the Remake of the End of the Greatest RPG of All Time which is, officially, out in May 2026!

It's really good to have a more specific timing for when this game will be out... but you will probably also notice that's not Q1 of 2026... so what happened? Did I not finish my trello board?

No, it's something much deeper. When I wrote the last post I genuinely believed we'd hit Q1. And we did... for that version of the game. Part of me wants to keep why that didn't happen vague, but I've always wanted our kickstarter posts to be as transparent as spoilers and the law will allow. So... it was the ending.

To avoid spoilers I'll just say that while logically the game's ending made sense... it kinda just ended. So, we sat down and talked it out, until I found an ending that I can guarantee has never existed in any video game.

To be clear: I'm not redoing what we had, I'm just adding to it. And you have my word this is worth it.
Hopefully we can talk about more of how this has progressed when the game is out.

Yes! For those who backed at the $50 tier or higher we'll be having our closed backer beta This Coming Monday - March 30th, 2026.

This beta will include roughly the first half of a casual player's experience, and we expect it to take ~1.5-2.5 hours to complete.

In other news...

Thank you to everyone we saw at GDC!

For those who don't know, I also spoke at GDC last week! It went very well but I was extremely nervous before... so I'm partially glad it's over!

So many cool people told us that they enjoyed the panel, so if you attended thank you so much! And of course shout out to Nick, Juan Pablo, Jon, Adam, Flan, Jonny, Mut, and Gurn Group for making up an amazing group of speakers.

Our panel was also mentioned by Jacob Geller on MinnMax's bonus pod... as an example of how devs nobody knows can get panels at GDC 😆. It's true but you don't have to rub it in Jacob...

... (genuinely an honor to be mentioned)!

Me and Noah also went to the TSLoG (formerly Eggplant) meetup which we had a blast at. I counted 6 people in TRotEotGRPGoat's special thanks credits in the above photo. Fun game for after launch.

Finally, we also met a ton of you around events. Two different people specifically called out TRotEotGRPGoAT as one of their most anticipated games... and neither one was my Mom! If Jacob, Noah or I met you at GDC thanks for making it a memorable one.

The room with the two torches softlock?

I went into a purple portal and entered a long corridor that put me in fights with the camerahead guy, where I can move around mid fight and in the second room after breaking some boxes I thought the obvious choice would be to use fire on the candles and it does hit them but the game softlocks afterwards Anyone run into this place and know the solution or if this is just bugged and have no greater meaning....

Demo endgame content (spoilers!)

Has somebody found out yet what is meant with all carpets leading somewhere? https://v1.steam.hlxgame.cc/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3471715707 Couldn't find out what the pattern on it is for. The statement as such I might understand, but when trying to follow it trying to go through the wall where the carpet seems to continue as visible looking behind the computer screen I get a message from the Quizard stating "You see it, right? He's lying" and then get kicked out...

Screen transition just logs me off?

I've just defeated the Chronobeast and, after going through 2 portals, get to a screen transition that logs me off, teleporting me to the 3D part of the game. I've already done what's available there, but even if I get back into the game I'm put back to where I last saved, so I don't know how to progress...help?...
