New Trailer Premiere + Demo Update!

Demo Update Live Now!

A major update to our demo has just gone live!

This overhauls many elements of the core game loop to bring more snap, satisfaction, and challenge to every part of the game!

Highlights include:

New bonus rewards you can earn in the middle of a board
New enemy invasions that can spring up during combat
New item rewards to discover, including several holographic rare items
A totally reworked menu flow for starting a run, equipping a loadout, and visiting the shop
Tons of balance improvements, bug fixes, and little bits of polish everywhere

Jump in and try the best version of Blocks for Babies we've released so far! Please let us know your thoughts in the Steam discussions. Or, if you're so inclined, our Discord server[discord.gg] is the perfect place to discuss the game and share your feedback. We'd love to have you there :)

New trailer dropping May 21st!

Our brand new trailer premieres at the Six One Indie Showcase on May 21st at 9:00am PDT. You can catch it, among plenty of other amazing titles, on Six One Indie's channel here!

We're super proud of the trailer we put together and will put it up on the Steam page soon after it goes live, like a proud parent pinning their child's macaroni art. In this analogy we're both the parent and the child, and possibly the macaroni.

Great game, heres some suggestions from a Tetris player's pov

I loved the game and beat the demo, can't wait for the whole thing to come out Some quality of life changes you could make is to add ARR/DAS settings for tetris gameplay, idk if that's possible but it would be like how fast the tetris block moves when you hold down the side button or how long you need to hold the side button for the block to start moving fast. On the shooting side, maybe making the shotgun animation have a bit more kick would be cool. Not that I know anything, never made a steam game. T...

Stack the Odds! (Demo Update)

Babies, Boomers, and Blockheads alike,

It's time for a new update to the Blocks for Babies demo, and this one brings 2 new major reward types, plus a brand new overhauled UI!

New Reward Types

There are 2 new types of rewards for clearing blocks and completing boards: Grab Bags and Check Ups.

Alter future blocks by peering into the Grab Bag

View the pool of possible blocks that can fall
Alter those blocks (electrify, delete, cram some ammo in there!) and see your changes come up again and again
Stack the odds by adding copies or deleting entire pieces from the Grab Bag

Improve your own stats with a Check Up

Visit Doctor Flapper* to improve your vital stats
Buff your move speed, attack rate, max HP, mode change frequency, and more!
Grow up big and strong to dominate other babies in the percentile charts

A New 2D UI

We've overhauled the 2D UI to improve clarity and cohesion. Our hope is that everything is a little easier to find at a glance. We'd love to hear your thoughts on it!

Note: The new UI has some built-in motion to it. This can be turned down, or turned off, in the settings.

It's Boomstock, baby!

Blocks for Babies is proud to be part of Boomstock 2025, a celebration of retro FPS carnage and old-school brutality!

Demo Updated

In honor of Boomstock we've updated our Steam demo, bringing the PAX Rising demo first experienced by hundreds of players at PAX West 2025 into the hands of players at home. There are plenty of improvements and new things to find in this demo, but we'll leave you with the most important one: You and Flapper can now be even better best friends.

Cool Demo, but runs terribly,

Another topic asks if the controls are laggy. It isn't that, the game runs slow on my system, getting around 30 fps. Now, it isn't a particularly powerful system, but I don't think this game should be too demanding in my opinion. As for the game itself, I enjoyed the demo, even if I was struggling with the performance, and I am looking forward to the full release.

Edit: I also ran Into a bug: If you quickly open your inventory/tab menu when you return to tetris mode after clearing a boa...

Got error message after attempting to beat mega boss?

I got up to "World 3" and I used the revive and faced a mega boss? (looked like a tall block man) and I ran out of bullets and it took me to the upper part of the game and the board was wiped. It played both the boss fight music and the game music and I couldn't do anything except go to the main menu and then it crashed. After that it gave me an error message. (I do have a screen shot of the screen that I got stuck on.) This is what the error message says: ___________________________________________ #####...
