Is this closer to "We tested it using a controller, it probably works fine on KB&M but we don't know" or "This game is fine tuned to be impossible with KB&M"?

A lot of levels before this one seemed outrageously demanding but I was somehow able to get lucky, but this one is feeling like there's no hope of completing it whatsoever. There's simply too many enemies and the flashlight runs out too fast. If anyone has any advice on doing it more easily, or a map file I could look at, or anything that would help at all I'd really appreciate it....

The level introduced a fun new weapon but ive played it three times and the wooden door wont open and I cant find a switch after looking through the maze loads.

Not sure if I'm missing hives, but it does seem like some levels have hives while others do not. I try traversing levels keeping in mind the 'detector' in the top right but fear I may have to redo levels for missed hives.
