Game Source Entertainment (GSE) is pleased to announce that THANKS, LIGHT., a 3D portal-like puzzle-platformer developed by South Korean indie studio Lightersgames, is scheduled for official release on PlayStation®5 and Steam in September 2026. The free demo version is now available on Steam, offering a first look at the mechanic in action, with wishlisting now open ahead of this year's launch. Additionally, the game will be participating in the upcoming Steam Next Fest starting from June 15, alongside with the release of a major content update and brand-new trailer. The game's central concept is a spatial manipulation of shadow and substance: players wield a flashlight to shift objects between 2D and 3D states, start your adventure by solving puzzles with your imaginations in the Liminal Space.

This time《THANKS, LIGHT.》 will receive a major content update and comprehensive optimization in the coming demo! Here are the core highlights of this update:

Content Expansion: Brand-new playable stages are now available! In addition to Chapter 1 and Chapter 2, we are introducing Chapter 3 for the very first time, inviting players to challenge even deeper geometric and physics-based puzzles.
Gameplay Experience Optimization: Based on valuable player feedback, we have fixed known bugs to ensure a much smoother puzzle-solving experience.
A new subtitle toggle feature has been added, allowing players to turn subtitle effects on or off according to their personal preference.
Brand-new in-game background music (BGM) has been implemented to create an even more immersive gaming atmosphere.

Totally unable to play

First of all, I'm playing with a controller (I don't like M+KB). And then I have an AZERTY keyboard. So I can't follow the instructions on screen (none for controller, wrong ones for my keyboard). Too bad, the game seemed promising.

THANKS, LIGHT. — Demo Update

It's been a while, everyone!
While we've been holed up in our small dark room, hiding from the sun and grinding away,
has the world been doing alright out there?
A game with the same gimmick as ours didn't drop while we were gone, did it?
(Just imagining it gives us chills.)

We've done a HUGE amount of work this whole time, but since most of it went
into the later chapters, the demo only gets this slice of the patch notes!
Honestly, we did so much that this is just what we managed to dig out of
our memory. We also fixed, tweaked, and polished a ton of other little things.

🌐 Localization

The game now supports a whopping 21 languages! (With a little help from AI.)

🎮 Controls / Quality of Life

Expanded gamepad options — sensitivity settings, more stable key remapping
Revamped rotation logic — smoother to use, with more ways to rotate
New interaction UI that reflects flashlight range
Story skip feature added

🖥️ Graphics / Video

Various new graphical elements
New video options
Upscaling options added (TSR + Screen Percentage)
- DLSS and FSR are planned for a later update
A tiny bit of optimization (really, just a tiny bit)

I am hopefull

The controlls need a lot of smoothing. Even on sensitivity zero the movement is jumping around way too quickly. There are also lots of tiny ridges on the ground and you can sometimes get stuck on them like an invisible wall. The visuals are bit too oversaturated even for the asthetic it feels you are going for. The stuff that floats around and clutters the space doesn't help rooms from looking empty because of the monocrome pallet. It feels like the puzzle rooms should just be smaller. Demo's completely bugged! I can't start a level at all!

After the opening cutscene finished, I was able to play. I saw the floor that reads "WASD" and I was able to use my flashlight. I noticed that the look speed was too fast, so I paused to adjust that setting. When I unpaused, my player character moved outside the level and fell forever. I clicked Reset Stage and it did nothing. After that, I tried going into Select Stage. I can toggle left and right through the stages, but there's no button to actually SELECT a stage and go to it. The only button is "none"...
