Late last year, Castillon entered a period of development hiatus to focus on other work. But earlier this Spring, development resumed in full-force, which has led us to finally dropping the Steam demo!

We've taken the basics of TD, RTS and Base Builder games and boiled them down into a tight strategy experience. The demo will grant you access to the Tutorial and first 2 playable levels. We have plenty of ideas on how to next expand the game, and know that it needs additional balancing. Your feedback will be invaluable to that process!

2026 Playtest update!

New items since the previous playtest version include:

Main Menu - Particle decorations
Level Select - Lighting and particle decorations, improved sizing and font readability
All levels - Set dressing overhaul, resource collection now flies to castle and up into UI only if on screen, horse galloping animation, tweaked crystal pickup sizing down a tad, tower animation catapult when firing, new build menu layout, removed shadows from lights in towers and castle, repairs and rebuilds animate scaffolding on buildings, improved tutorial pointer and various HUD UI tweaks. Bug fixes for spawns and nav mesh issues galore!

Untapped potential

The simplistic elegance of the base game's design is perfect. Why spam a button to attack? Why micro all your units? Choose your overall strategy, and then control only the fun parts-- the rest is automated. There is tons more opportunity to explore your design space than a simple 4-6 hour game, but it's a good place to start. There are an infinite number of cool things you can add: heroes, powers, buildings, enemies, locations, campaigns, game modes, etc....
