We are super excited about all the feedback, reviews, bug reports and overall lovely messages you have been sending us. This playtest is essential for us to make the game better and so far we’re seeing a lot of interesting opinions.

We have also noticed a lot of players struggling with finding Avalon and where to build their first building. This patch is here to make sure your first 2 hours of gameplay go smoother.

Players who are using a Nitrado server (for which you can fill a request here[dotemu.activehosted.com]) need to restart (not reinstall) their server to access these updates.

UI / UX

• Map input is now M by default instead of semicolon.

• Plank resource description terminology fix: the description of the “Plank” item mentioned the wrong name (“Sawmill”) instead of “Woodworks”.

• The following quests: “Survival Tools” and “A World Of Resources” are now displayed as secondary quests to help focus on the critical path.

Gameplay

• Improved early game guidance out of the Hidden Isles (fiefdom island) into Avalon.

  • Better quest description for “The Scout” quest.

  • New quest marker for the teleportation portal to Avalon near the Spirit Tree of the Hidden Isles. 

  • Interaction box of the teleportation portal from the Hidden Isles (fiefdom island) to Avalon is larger.

  • Interaction box of the teleportation portal from Avalon to the Hidden Isles (fiefdom island) is larger.

  • Portal light improved: the lighting on these two portals has been toned down to make more room for the VFX.

• Improved guidance for the first building (Woodworks) with better quest description for the “We Need A Woodworks” quest.

Level

• Added a Cromlech (respawn/teleportation point) next to the Spirit Tree in Avalon to reduce travel time to Avalon after death.

It’s time to join the Twilight Knights as our playtest starts tomorrow, and runs until July 6! Join the fray today and have your say in the future of Wardens of Avalon, our Action RPG set within a dark Arthurian world!

We have two ways for our brave Knights to join the playtest:

• Peer to Peer - The Wardens of Avalon playtest is available directly within Steam for those playing solo or peer-to-peer. Players can launch their own single or multiplayer campaign and have friends join them to rebuild Avalon. Importantly, friends will not be able to access the world server without the server owner being present, and progress will be limited to the host’s campaign.

• Dedicated Servers - We have a limited number of dedicated servers, allowing players to join a persistent world (with servers hosted by our partners at Nitrado). To create a free dedicated server for the playtest, you’ll need a code from us - which you can request here[dotemu.activehosted.com]. This means any player can join at any time, without requiring a player host.

For Knights requesting a dedicated server - once you’ve filled out the request link above, keep an eye on your email. We’ll be getting in touch to let you know if you’ve been successful, or whether you’ll have to wait for the next round to get involved with a dedicated server.

If you are one of our lucky Knights that receive a code, you’ll need to follow a couple of steps to set up your free Wardens of Avalon dedicated server:

1. Head to the Nitrado Wardens of Avalon Portal[server.nitrado.net] to redeem the code

2. Sign up for a free account

3. Enter your voucher code and click Redeem

This will allow you to instantly claim your new server. While this is a streamlined process, our team are available on Discord[discord.com] should you need a hand within standard working hours, and happy to help our new Knights get settled in Avalon.

A note - you only need to request a code if you and your fellow Knights want to keep a persistent multiplayer world. Until July 6, If you are rebuilding Avalon as a solo player or inviting friends to join your world, you can request access to the playtest through Steam without needing to sign up for a separate account.
