Demo Update: Sector 03 Preview

Sunk deep into the cavernous depths of Planet Virishal lies a great planetary engine, a technological marvel of unfathomable scale and the source of power for Mairish civilization. Explore the subterranean megastructure, solve complex environmental puzzles, and harness a powerful new ability to bring the colossal engine back online.

Previously playable in a limited form at PAX Aus 2025, this preview of Sector 03 is now available on Steam for a limited time. Check out new puzzles and abilities from an all new region of the game and attempt to locate all the hidden pickups (hint: there are six to find)!

The preview demo can be accessed from the main menu of the Steam demo from December 1st 2025 until January 31st 2026 (the main demo will continue to remain available during and after this time).

The preview demo often takes around 30 minutes to an hour to complete in full and does not save progress. However the demo is structured in such as way that you can choose which of the three main puzzle rooms to attempt in any order, so you don't have to do them all in a single session.

Shard locations

I really liked playing this Demo. I'm sorry to say that I spent a couple of hours backtracking all the areas I have found to try and find 3 more shards to accumulate the 8 Shards I need to upgrade my spacesuit. I feel as though I have looked extremely hard in every nook and cranny to find all of the Shards. I even did a replay. To make matters worse I am soft locked in one of the rooms after stepping off a small platform in a corner of the room. If the Shards are this difficult to find I won't be purchasin...

Metroidvania Fusion Festival

Excited to announce that Memory's Reach is part of the Metroidvania Fusion Festival, hosted by Human Qube Games and taking place from Nov 3 to 11.

If you've clicked through from the festival page, welcome! Memory's Reach is something a little different:

A first person, puzzle-focused metroidvania. Blending in influences from 3D adventure games and environmental puzzle games - think Metroid Prime meets Talos Principle - and wrapping it all in a sleek, scifi and cyberpunk-esk alien world.

There is a free demo available to play with multiple regions and loads of content to explore. And it was just recently updated with a bunch of fixes and improvements too.

So go check it out, give the game a wishlist, and let me know what you think over in the Steam forums!

Demo Update 0.9.8

Some minor updates to the demo as development on the full game continues.

General Changes:

Updated Unity Engine version to resolve a security issue identified by Unity in older versions of their engine.
Some minor level design changes to incorporate the new carriable objects into the early areas of the game.
To account for various brands of handhelds, the game will now detect if it is being run on a high DPI device (200 DPI or greater) with a screen width of less than 10 inches, and if so will use the Steam Deck default graphics settings. If you are running a more recent handheld device you can probably increase the graphics settings without a significant reduction in FPS.
Added camera smoothing for mouse input.
The cellular consistency of mushrooms has been stabilized (they no longer wiggle like they're made of jelly).

New settings options:

'Camera Smoothing' (Gameplay tab) - Adjust or disable the new smoothing effect mentioned above.
'Translocator Motion' (Accessibility tab) - Turn this off to remove motion and screen warping effects when using the Translocator ability.
'Camera Bob' (Accessibility tab) - Toggle the bobbing and swaying motion on the camera when walking and running.
'HUD Smoothing' (Accessibility tab) - Toggle the HUD and flashlight movement lag effect.
'Carry Object Toggle' (Accessibility tab) - Set the input of the new carry object mechanic for function as a toggle or a hold.

Found a Bug... And Hello Ben!

My brother called me a month ago, he had just finished The Eyes of Ara and found my picture on the wall in the backers room to his surprise. it was an interesting call. So that inspired me to replay it {still one of my favorites}, and see what you've been up to. Love the demo, can't wait for release!! Sorry I wasn't paying attention and missed the sector 3 preview... Found a spot where I fell through the floor in Virishal between the Main Quarry and the west shaft. By walking forward and then backward ...

How to access the sector 3 preview?

I really enjoyed the demo during next fest and saw that theres been an update. I just replayed the demo, getting to both the "endings" in the Virishal Depths and Lagash Valley, but I cant find the new area. Has anyone found it and can maybe give a hint? Really looking forward to the full Game....

I'm playing demo with a mouse and keyboard. How do I throw the round caged power ball? I saw it done in the Sector 3 walkthrough in the discussions.
