⚠️ NOTE - The Contracts mode in this game will not work, as Square Enix parted ways with IO Interactive and no longer supports the Absolution servers. IO Interactive now solely focuses on Hitman: World of Assassination, their latest entry in the franchise, so Absolution will only offer the main story campaign. Contracts mode is offline for good. Additionally, the game still displays an initial Square Enix membership registration page on first launch. This was never patched, and you may find yourself signing up expecting bonus content for Absolution, but none will be delivered. Unless you play other Square Enix titles, it's best to skip the registration entirely.

📝 REVIEW - Although this game was met with mixed reception from parts of the Hitman community, it delivers a gripping story - especially if you're familiar with Agent 47's lore, and introduced innovations that went on to shape the modern Hitman games. Absolution takes a more cinematic approach compared to the open-world design of other entries in the series, but it holds up far better than any Hitman film adaptation. It was also the last Hitman game published with Square Enix's involvement before they abandoned the IP. The studio nearly collapsed before Warner Bros. stepped in and saved the franchise, which ultimately paved the way for Hitman: World of Assassination. The game does leave a few cliffhangers that are never revisited in future titles, which is a shame because there's tremendous potential for a follow-up. In my opinion, it remains one of the best entries in the series, precisely because it shows a side of Agent 47 we simply weren't used to seeing.
