Removing Game From Sale.

Afternoon All, As you can tell i haven't had many updates this passed year and just because of business costs ive decided to remove the game from sale and close down 359 Games Ltd.

My understanding is you should be able to keep it if you have it installed, if your a fellow coder and you are interested in some of the tech (the flight system and thermal damage systems i was really happy with) feel free to contact me on reddit or discord (i'll leave the parabellum galaxia area on there).

As a lessons learnt for those interested, my plan of keeping the game multiplayer and initially VR only probably didn't help with my marketing and message. I did start to pivot mid last year to develop a single player story mode (which seemed to be what people wanted) but i could never develop the right story mode. I gained a lot from developing it, coding wise i really built up my understanding and as a technical piece of work i am still really happy with it, as a game it never really took off. Ultimately i was happy to give it a try and make the most of the opportunity.

Demo Feedback

Hi everyone, I just wanted to see who has played the demo and if they had any feedback regarding anything. There are some balancing issues I’m going to look at and also try and fix certain scenarios where the ship is unresponsive (or at least check if that’s because it’s damaged as that tends to be the scenario). Updated Mission Builder + Other fixes

A few small updates namely..

Mission Builder not working fixed - turned out at some point gameobject links were lost these were restored and fixed.
Added Trigger Events - Here you can have user messages, ship events destruction/arrival/departure all activated based on position based, or time based triggers. There is one sample mission included.
Added a HyperSpace Graphic - For arrival and departure based triggers this now results in a hyperspace graphic of sorts. If the player leaves on arrival at trigger, this results in mission success.
Mission deck unencoded, in theory you can now make missions purely in text form in json format.

To be added..
Audio Links to be added to triggers, this will probably be done json scripting as a local link. This could allow time or location based triggers to be added.
Event based triggers - ie. on destruction of a ship.

Im still not happy with the new ship armour texture, I have tried a number of experiments and at the very least i will have a new under armour graphic soon. On from that i need to integrate the destructable asteroids and then try and build a campaign with this and bring things together.

New Ship Builder in Preview Build!

Apologies for the delay, quite a few changes in this build as it contains the new ship builder alongside the legacy one and I have included a number of fixes.

New Ship Builder - Works in VR and Desktop, this is a 'freeform' type of approach where you draw a chain of beams, join them together to make the framework of the ship and then apply armour on top of that. This should lead to much more versatile designs of ship but initially it can be a bit confusing. I havnt fully fixed the weapons menu's, in that i need to make the models for the various configurations. The UI needs a good pass to make things clearer as well. To build a model currently, you work on one side of the symmetry, for desktop mode you go up and down with the camera to change the vertical plane your building on. In theory asymmetry is supported but i havnt enabled it yet.
3D printer output - Any ship made with the new ship builder can be exported as a STL model configured for 3d printing (ie. ship armour is thickened to ensure its stable). The examples ive printed out were pretty good but werent exhaustive. Look forward to seeing if anyone tries it out, if so please post your pics!
New Thruster Models and Updated Script - The motion engine has been updated to support 'turret' engines and fore/aft external engines.
Updated Turret Aim module - This has been updated to solve rather than iteratively process where it should target, it seems os far to be more robust such that turrets are more effective at shooting down missiles now. Flak is more effective but I probably need to revise it to make it more powerful in that its active throughout the firing process.
Legacy Ships - The carrier is still legacy, in fact any ship that hasnt been updated will revert to the previous design model.

Next steps will be polishing the UI of the builder and sorting out some of the gameplay bugs, ideally giving better control of the ships. I'll update the mission builder to support by default the new ships as it'll still use the old ones. I'll then introduce procedural asteroids and hopefully have time to get wide range of weapon configs before looking to introduce a few story missions that i've got pencilled out in my head!

Hi All, As you might tell I’m terrible at keeping things up to date, but I’m happy to report I’ve submitted my release candidate for steam review! As per topic, this is a early access build so won’t be fully featured. There are a number of improvements I’ve made since the last demo build. Just realised that any messages on the playtest wont be popping up here and wanted to post something to indicate the development so far.
