Hey Punks,

We just released patch note 1.1.1 which adds samples to all the songs in the Jukebox, adds a new minigame, fixed multiple audio issues, and more!

Patch Notes 1.1.1

Jukebox Mode:

Added samples to all the songs.
Re-ordered the songs for a better listening experience.
Updated visual assets for various tracks.

Gameplay and UI updates:

Added new tutorialization for the Cake and Drink portions of the Diner Dash minigame.
Expanded mouse functionality across the main game and all minigames.
Added a new minigame.
Added a credits button to the main menu.
Added a new content warning at the start of the game.

Bug fixes:

Cleaned up several UI glyphs for better clarity across all minigames.
Fixed an issue that caused the wrong ending to play out.
Fixed an issue that caused some wardrobe clothes to be displayed incorrectly.
Fixed multiple audio issues.
Fixed an issue that caused debug tools to become available to players.

Dead Pets: A Punk Rock Slice of Life Sim is out now!

Struggling punk rock band, Dead Pets, are looking for their big break. Play rhythm games at band practice, work a diner shift, converse with characters and manage Gordy’s life. Dead Pets is a feminist, slice-of-life, management-lite, minigame-heavy story; unleash your inner demon!

When I first tried Dead Pets, I fell in love with the different character designs and the story they have behind them. Dead Pets was one of the unfortunate that got cancelled in the sea of games back in 2024. When I heard that we were picking up the title and continuing working on it in 2025, I was over the moon. Now the hard work and love that the developers put into Dead Pets can be shared with the world.

This is the craziest concert in history.

Women in Games International

Hey Punks,

We are hosting a Dead Pets Launch Party charity event for Women in Games International(WIGI) on February 5th - 7th.

From Thursday to Saturday, a ton of amazing femme and gender queer streamers will be playing Dead Pets[www.twitch.tv] on Twitch while raising money for WIGI. You can find streamers participating in the event here[www.twitch.tv]. Select streamers will be raffling games from the Akupara catalog to those who donate.

WIGI is dedicated to supporting the growth and success of women, femme-identifying, and nonbinary professionals in the games industry making them a perfect partner for our upcoming feminist punk rock rhythm game.

Akupara and WIGI will be live at noon PST with a roundtable moderated by Katy Bentz[www.twitch.tv] and a playthrough AMA with the Inna from the Dead Pets team.

First launch day raid train stream starts on February 6th at 6am PST. Be there or be square.

Amazing indie game!! Loved the art style, the music, the story, the game design, the mini games! Highly recommend!! The story is rich, covering many issues in the life of a young woman, always through feminist lens.
However, the end felt a bit abrupt despite the fact that the entire game felt quite long, so that was a shame. I wish we could have explored a bit more of the ending instead of focusing too much on other subplots in the middle of the gameplay.
