Employee A demo v1.2.1 released!

The latest version of the Employee A demo is now available! Thanks to everyone who provided feedback on the demo's first build. Patch notes below!

Improvements

Improved text in the prologue
Added the ability to move from any primary map directly to any other primary map
Added transitions when moving between maps
Added more tutorial text explaining how to use the timeline
Apartment background music now sounds better on more sound systems, especially those with subwoofers

Fixes

Fixed an issue where it was possible to softlock the game by trying to examine the timeline after completing all timeline entries
Fixed an issue where history was inaccessible during the prologue
Fixed an issue where some non-functioning menu options were shown when accessing preferences from the main menu
Fixed an issue where some text in the pause menu had insufficient contrast to meet W3C-AA accessibility guidelines
Fixed an issue where Jim’s mouth disappeared during the second and third frame of his frustrated blinking animation

Employee A is a pixel art point-and-click adventure set in the heart of the modern-day high technology industry. Inspired by classic mystery game series like Ace Attorney and Zero Escape, Employee A will test your logic and deduction skills as you investigate. To escape conviction, you'll have to:

Find clues to regain your memories and establish your alibi
Break through the selfishness and indifference of your tech industry co-workers
Desperately try to hold yourself together as the aftereffects of trauma bear down on you

Feedback

The introductory dialogue was really, really long. Even for really original, gripping worlds with fancy graphics and such, the introduction can't be that long, players will just zone out eventually. At least I did. I think the story was a little too generic for me. Amnesia, race against time to recover your memories, these are solid tropes... but the execution feels lacking. Not gritty enough to be a noir, not weird enough to be surrealism, not urgent enough to be a thriller, not humorous enough to be qui...
