Decks and the City

I have glaucoma and is difficult for me to see dark and low contrast stuff and

this whole game is dark and low contrast. I could play it about 5 minutes and had to stop because it was too much of a labor for me to view it. Too bad as otherwise it seems like the kind of game I'd really like.

Juicy Ambience

One of the first bits of juice we added to the game were cars, we then promptly broke these before the recent demo and left them broken for months. But no more! We have re-added cars and they were certainly sorely missed, the city feels much more alive with so much motion.

In addition we also added other aspects for more visual variety, these include but are not limited to planes, boats, and hot air balloons.

For those of you who opt to leave at least a bit of the land without concrete, you may spot a flock or two of sheep! For a deeper dive into cars, please take a look at our short on that very topic:

Card Trinkets

This week we're introducing our newest feature, card trinkets!

Card trinkets can be attached to cards to give them additional effects, for example attach a "+2 Population" trinket to your Windmill card and the electricity company is in for surprise come next inspection when they find their new squatters!

Below we have two trinkets with two basic population cards, the pink trinket gives an additional 2 population while the blue trinket gives an additional 2 approval.

Attaching the blue trinket to the houses and the pink trinket to the apartments upgrades them with the trinket's attributes, resulting the in the following new cards.

These of course are quite basic attributes, but we will be adding more complex and interesting interactions before release.

We currently have it set up so trinkets on a card are permanent, but the system we have designed allows for re-slotting trinkets at will, so that may be subject to change based on playtesting and feedback.

This new system offers us a lot more options for balancing and should hopefully allow for a lot more variation run to run for players.
