Having a lot of fun with this game so far. Another game I sheepishly avoided, due to seeing a few clips of Frey and feeling the game was led by a character I cannot invest my time into, but out of curiosity I tried the demo again and then liked it enough to pick up the game. If you can get past the cringe moments there is a lot more to enjoy.

Frey sets herself up in the beginning as a whiny, annoying teenager. Constantly swearing as if the word ''♥♥♥♥'' is a sentence enhancer, being involved in youth gangs, overall silly dialogue. I cannot believe she is 21, come on she is no older than 14 years old. This is like watching Sopranos but you only see sixth season AJ for the first two hours. I can tell there is something good behind the character waiting to be shown, but you have to dig a bit into the game to appreciate it. I don't hate Frey, but the addition to having a talking braclet who also doesn't shut up with the musings of a teenager adds to what should be an enjoyable presence of character, not like Artie Bucco who keeps trying to talk to his customers, and fa what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The use of magic and combat is top of the line. In most games I love picking mages, Frey is able to smack around enemies with geo styled magic, and as if her hand is an assault rifle, can change her magic to burst or auto shots. She has a secondary support magic to pair, such as binding, blinding or having an auto fire spell drop. If only the Sopranos had this kind of firepower in the final season, oh!!!!!!!

The story is okay. It's not going to win any writers awards, but it's not too bad. It's enough to get you to empathize with a 14 year old who lives by herself, abandoned by her parents, feeling like there is no way out, and just before she is able to have a moment like AJ in the family pool, she finds a reason to keep living. My peeve here is that you are locked into learning about this story, until you can get into the really good stuff. The free roaming stuff.

Overall, I highly recommend you watch the entire series of The Sopranos. I mean play Forsaken. Forspoken. Ahh marone.

I understand why this game got such poor/mixed reviews.

The game itself has fun mechanics but the story has no continuity. The story contradicts itself constantly and any in-game lore available is so vague, its like the writers didn't want to commit to anything. Also, there are like side-challenges or whatever to "save refugees" but where the **** did they come from? Its like they did one of those youtube challenges, "10 devs make a game without talking".

The personality of the main character makes sense...for a little while but for some reason she still ends up playing the victim even after seeing mass genocide. She never changes her clothes and she writes letters to her cat, then proceeds to tell said cat to convey a message.

Played the DLC...gives a little lore but that entire DLC could have been explained in like a 6 photo montage with a narrator.

tldr; idk, i can go on for a while im sure. whatever. game was cool. story was cool sometimes and sucked grinch tits others because continuity. This game is worth like $15-$20

minus the heavy lag every so often i think its a good game still needs to fix the lag
