When i try to play online, nobody joins the lobby.

I am trying to play with the "Rounds with Friends" mod, but I am unable to get it to load or function. I am going through the Thunderstore mod manager and clicking the "start modded" button. However when I load into the game I can't join friends or host a room or even use remote play. I could use some help figuring this out.
