a little bit more than in the description? what is the final goal of the game?

I've started three games, and they all end quickly with me running away from some enemy that never seems to give up. I don't have breathing room to build my workbench, so I can't craft any weapons. So I just keep running and trying to get far enough ahead of the enemy so I can build my workbench. I suggest we be able to craft a weapon without the workbench so we have a defense. Also, enemies should give up eventually, or else the game is kinda impossible. I thought the game looked fun and interesting, an...

Is there a better way to farm leaves than growing oak trees? oaks give 2 leaves and a bunch of wood, and the wood is sort of piling up. is there anything else that can give more than 2 leaves?
