Hello Shadows,

Last friday we launched the game!

As with any game launch, there were some problems.

Be assured that we will monitor the situations and act accordingly.

That said, we cannot be happier! 9 years in the making, and now we can continue with all of you by our side!

Pay to play:

I have to address that there was some confusion, frustration, and perhaps expectations that the game would be free.

In the past we never have said that Shadows of Soldiers would be a free-to-play game.

It would be amazing to show Shadows of Soldiers as a free-to-play product; however, to maintain the game and continue to progress, we simply cannot do so.

We know all the arguments for being free to play with battlepass and other things, but we cannot afford to do so.

In order to create new things for the game, there is time and money involved as well. With limited people working on the game, we cannot spare the time to work on extra cosmetics and such.

We personally want to focus all our time on further developing the game.

Rest assured that purchases and earnings will be flowing back into the game.

Servers need to be expanded, systems need optimizing, marketing needs to be done, and things need to be bought to keep the game rolling.

Perhaps in the future we could compensate and lower the price of the game. In the end, all results depend on how the next months will go and we need a way to fund dedicated servers.

Hopefully this gives some insight into the choices that we had and explains why we chose a one-time payment.


Performance issues:
As for performance issues, we had some problems going on the server side. We already published a patch for some optimizations and tools for us to better monitor and diagnose server issues.
We got ways to go but need everyone their input and information to better and faster optimize the game.
We'd really appreciate it if you could give as hand in this and provide benchmark results for us with your gaming specs.
