Game crashes in Big Dogs sport bar

I am playing this game bougth through steam a couple of days ago and crashes in the exact same problem described in this closed thread. Stuck on Cat Person

Hello, I'm trying to 100% the game and am currently only missing Cat Person. I'm using the guide by TheDeluxeTux (thanks btw!), but I can't figure out how to get the hint for the remote. I've tried everything already, tried talking to everyone, interacting with everything, the cat just keeps saying that there's no hints available yet... The remote is still on the counter in the sports bar. Am I missing something?...
