Todayi ist a very special day for us: A Rat’s Quest – The Way Back Home | Season 1 is now available!

This project has meant a great deal to our team, and we’re incredibly happy to finally share Mat’s journey with you. What began as an idea grew into a story full of heart, adventure, and the hope of finding your way back to the ones you love. Seeing it arrive here on Steam, and knowing players can finally experience it for themselves, means a lot to us.

We truly hope you’ll enjoy joining Mat on this adventure as much as we enjoyed bringing it to life.

It's pretty Ratsome.

A solid platformer that brings you back to alot of the ogs we had we growing up. (Donkey Kong Country, Rachet and Clank, Pumpkin Jack, etc.) Unfortantly the devs are releasing the game in (what I understand) is 2 seasons. this being season 1 and then season 2 being released seperatly, later this year. I really hope they give a HEAVY discount on the next season because the season is pretty short for the $25+ price tag. I beat the game in 4.5 hours and that was with a decent amount of exploring and messing around. (the game wont close when I exit it, hence the longer play time)

- the story isnt anything revolutionary but its a decent one with some good voice acting and moments
- Its a platformer so youll have some "WHAT THE F*** WAS THAT' moments when you "fail" a jump or miss a grab, but overall its a really fun and quite unique world to explore.
-Alright sound track, decent audio all around
-although we dont get much actual combat in this season, it was a nice little addition to help keep things unique and avoid over repetition

A solid 7/10. Cant wait to (finsih?) the stroy off in season 2!

What an immensely charming little game! The writing can be too fast paced and at times clunky, but every character still shines as charming, especially the three leads. The story has this fun sense of adventure that left me constantly eager to see what comes next.

The gameplay is great! Simple, and feels a bit janky, but there's definitely fun to be had with exploring this world and navigating its challenges.

The pacing is strange, like how you get the full combat system within the last 10 minutes of the game, which is... a choice? The jank, while mostly charming, does have the very occasional moment of dipping into frustration. Twice I got caught on some weird level geometry and had to quit the game, but the auto-save system is generous enough you only lose a few seconds of progress, but I still that desperately needs fixing. Sometimes the music really doesn't fit the scene, I don't know why the main villain's theme sounds weirdly bumbling.

But overall, I'm really invested and excited to see more! I also love how this game makes use of the limited space it takes place in, allowing the world of the rats to feel small enough for the story and lived in, whilst also constantly changing things up in the environment so that you always navigate these familiar areas through new routes, it never feels repetitive.

The wait for season 2 is going to be torture now, but I'll be there for certain.

Out of nearly 1,000 submissions from 75 countries, our tiny hero’s journey has stood out to the judges. As a studio based in the suburbs of Mexico City, this recognition means the world to us. It’s a testament to the passion we’ve poured into Mat’s cinematic adventure and our mission to show that ambitious, high-fidelity stories can emerge from any corner of the globe.

The Rat flickers while moving over the ground - glitch?!

I’m not exactly sure how to describe this properly, but the player character—the rat you control—seems to flicker or jitter when moving across the ground. It’s distracting enough that I currently can’t continue playing. I’ve already installed the latest graphics drivers, but the issue still persists....
