Short game but very interesting. The constantly shifting biomes is both a challenge and an annoyance. :)

I picked this up for the unique premise—building a city on the back of a giant, wandering creature—and it didn't disappoint. It’s a fantastic blend of city-builder and roguelite that feels fresh compared to other titles in the genre.

The music and art style are incredible, giving off strong "Studio Ghibli" vibes that make the experience immersive and relaxing, even when the stakes are high. What I didn't expect to love as much was the storytelling. Watching the characters interact in cutscenes added a lot of charm, and it did a great job of guiding the steady progression of the game. It felt like a cohesive journey rather than just a sandbox.

For anyone wondering about handheld play: the performance is rock solid on the Steam Deck. Controller support is implemented well. It’s a perfect "couch game."

The core mechanic of managing "Onbu" (the giant creature) adds a layer of strategy you don't get in static city builders. You aren't just managing your citizens; you have to manage the beast they live on. The choice between forming a symbiotic relationship (healing and feeding Onbu) or a parasitic one (extracting resources from Onbu) is a compelling mechanic that changes how runs play out.

Resource management is fun without being tedious. Once you learn to keep an eye on your resources, get a feel for balancing inputs and outputs (too much food, cut back on farmers for example) and when villagers need to be assigned to certain tasks (we don't need doctors if we're not in a toxic environment), it's hugely satisfying to see everything working perfectly! The scavenging system is a highlight for me—sending out scouts to see what random events or resources they bring back keeps the exploration exciting.

If you like city builders and want a unique twist that forces you to adapt to a changing environment, I highly recommend this.

If you like the high micro management gameplay then you'll probably enjoy this. Assign workers here, find these random resources growing somewhere on the map and click each individual one, relocate your gathering buildings constantly, etc.

Not for me. Don't really think games need to have this level of busy work, it's over the top.
